Have you purchased anything via online?
Have you bought anything onlne before like Ebay and amazon books or ever done banking online or even trade stocks?
I'm consider doing this, especially buying books and doing banking online b/c I'm trying to become more efficient in my lazy ways. Nothing like having the purchasing power, stark in your underwear, socks and sipping tea I was wondering how safe and reliable is it for you TAs. What kind of security measure one ought to take?

with amazon you have a great chance at getting cheap books in top condition. i always save myself like literally hundreds of dollars on textbooks every semester.
with ebay i think its all about timing and priorities. make sure they have good feedback. it always helps me to watch similar items for a bit to get an idea how the prices range. keep in mind that when you buy something breakable like electronics, there is no warantee honored. when something is extremely cheap and advertised "new in box" its probably refurbished or soemthing. with these kind of items i think its better that you spend the extra bit of money for the security of buying something new from a legit retail store. this way you have a warantee and you deal with professionals abotu shipment incase soemthing gets broken on the way. keeping this in mind i have bought so many things on ebay, including my tables and mixer. the only thing i had trouble with was an mp3 player that broke and creative is charging like... 20 bucks to look at it or soemthing, im not sure what to do with that. other then that, i cant count how many successful transactions i have made with ebay.
only pseudo banking ive done is paypal... i wouldnt recommend keeping your money there but its great for transfers from your checking account..evem though they do charge a certain percent of your transfer for their services depending on the amount transfered. i have an amsouth bank acount and trustmark and their online banking programs are great. never have to balance checkbooks or anything. and i think you can apply for loans and stuff.

luckily haven't had any problems yet, but i always buy on credit so it's insured by the card company...did have extra stuff sent recently, but i got to keep the extras after sorting it out with the store
i just bought wider angle and hybrid:remixed on amazon.ca

i am reluctant to buy services if i can't pay online. I have an online bank account. i access my other 2 accounts online only. (i was shocked to see new tellers when i actually went to my bank a few weeks ago). i pay my CC bill and phone bill online. i buy show tickets, airline tiks, and make travel arrangements. buy books, cds, and some other stuff online. i pay all my parking tikcets and speeding violations online. surprisingly the NJ DMV has fantastic online service - i renew my car registration online too.
laziness is the way to go if you know what you want. definitely.
I have to admit that about 85% of items I own now are bought from an internet based source. It is so much easier sometimes and you can find something on the internet that will never be so readily available off. Plus prices are always at a reduced cost.
