Mountain Ecosystems

Do you find the destruction of our mountain ecosystems to bother you..?? they hold 1/2 of the populations drinking water, while the glaciers and icecaps that are holding this water are rapidly shrinking and decreasing with the new phenomena of global warming. What do you think

yeah.

if only cause the skiing/snowboarding is getting shittier every year in Colorado.

dunno what i can say or do, its simple overpopulation and the spreading of that population and its waste over the globe. what really scares me is how much we have already destroyed. its not like europe was always one giant city(and most of the US for that matter). personally i find it commendable that anything is being done now to stop the destruction. if its enough is another matter|

does anything even live on the tops of mountans?? and yes we should kill everyone with brown hair.... er blond hair ive got brown hair...

but yeah i didnt reallize who much water is kept in the mountains untill i saw the warren miller movie last weekend, and it made me reallize that all the snow/ice is going to be gone at the current rate of global warming unless we do something about i. rase see level and stuff like that, i donk know how far off in the future this is going to be, but it does suck.

thats entirely a moot point. nothing has to live on the tops of mountains for that area to still be vital all around. there hasnt been an inch of earth not affected by current growth/pollution.

then again its not like humans can kill off all life on earth as hard as we try. when we speak of 'saving the whales, earth, or forests' were really just saying 'save the humans' so we can enjoy all those other things|

Mountains and snow are the most beautiful thing on earth. You almost feel in heaven standing on a 10.000ft high top. I admire how Swiss people know to find a balance between tourism and protecting the Alps.

Cutting trees should be forbidden!

save a tree! eat a gopher ....ok, my stupid jokes are unwelcome im sure, so ill just be leaving now back to my little hermit hole... but i also agree with the fact that society in this present age is not half as environmentaly aware as it should be, going from a place like panama to europe, and to see how clean it was, was quite the culture shock, but then again, i live surrounded by lush green rainforest and what not, while in europe you guys dont.. so i guess it goes both ways doesnt it? and i really liked the fact that in germany you had to recicle and most places where SPOTLESS. so, how does this all relate to mountains and sustainable developement? well, basically.... i think i lost myself... ill have to get back to you all. peace.

i think it sucks...you should do something about it.

seriously, tho...i think until and unless it doesn't start to drastically affect the average individual's lifestyle, ppl. simple won't be motivated enuff to do anything abt it
