I found this site! Explains a lot to me, I'm keeping it @ 224 kbit/s joint stereo (done about 10 cd's so I'm glad this is supposed to be the best option)

so are you recording mp3 cd's??? or are you ripping mp3's???
cuz i still don't get why your encoding it if you're going to be recording it as an audio cd!?!?

When I encode my rips, I have it at 192k Stereo, Not joint stereo cause joint stereo messes with the sound quality of the music making them a bit smaller, So if I were you, encode them in Stereo instead of joint stereo.

Stereo / Joint Stereo (if my memory serves me right) is just a different way to store the channels data (mixed vs sequential)... Thus, it makes no real difference, or so I think...
