I'm driving down there for the PVD show on new years eve. Well I will get there on Monday and i will have plenty of time for sight seeing. Any recommendations?

Yeah....what IS there to do in San Francisco? I might end up going to school there next year, but I've never been there. So I have no clue what the place is like! lol

Hey i live in the the Bay Area, which consists of San Francisco, Oakland, San jose and other cities but those cities are the major ones. Some places you should check out in frisco obviously are the golden gate bridge, alcatraz which im sure you know what it is, fisherman's warf (awesome seafood) and all the cool homeless bums that lie everyone around the street begging for money. also, hopefully you dont happen to go on the day of the annual gay and lesbian parade...jeez they broadcast that shit on TV here and its...uhhh freaky. just go touring the city because there's so much you can do there..you'll find out yourself. anywayz hope you have fun in frisco...cheers.

coit tower and stuff too

but i have to say OMFG its a total tourist trap that whole fishermans wharf area
like deathtrap
i mean holy shit WOULD u pay 6 bucks for a bowl of clam chowder?
but basically its all goign down at fishermans wharf
cuase u can see the golden gate from there and you can take the alactraz boat trips from people over there (theres big tour boats)
theres also some weird underwater aquarium thing going down there.....
hmmmmmmmm
if u go north of sf you can visit angel island which is like the ellis island of the west coast (good for hiking and such)
but yeah dont thingk sf is exciting cuase it hella isnt
and if ur over 21 maybe you should check out the 1015 website
sometimes they have good trance djs come over
(i remeber 1 week they had armin then ferry and then sasha or somethign like that)

um, people have been saying some mixed things, but imo the bay area is the best place in the world. maybe not as exciting or cosmopolitan as new york, but i for one 'left my heart in sf'. ok, seriously, i lived in berkeley (right across the bay) until i went to college on the east coast, and there is an endless amount of things to do in the area. notice that the two people raggin on the 'touristy' nature and lack of things to do were from the south bay not the central bay.

in sf - fishermans wharf is a tourist trap, as are alcatraz tours (ive never done one). good things: coit tower, golden gate bridge, ocean beach/cliffhouse, the mission (best mexican food ive ever had), south park area, chinatown (one of the best if not the best in the country), north beach (italian food and strip clubs...), bernal heights, twin peaks, golden gate park (huge), haight-ashbury, the presidio, chestnut st, russian hill for ridiculously steep streets, games at pac bell park, on and on.
in the east bay - uc berkeley campus, telegraph ave, grizzly peak, berkeley marina, college ave, lake merrit, the coliseum, piedmont ave, mormon temple, tilden park (huge), etc.

point is, there's plenty to do. if you're interested in specifically local events, check out a website like http://bayarea.citysearch.com

and what is wrong with the gay pride parade ?? i haven't been but i know its an amazing event that draws people from all over and is a defining moment for san francisco and its generally accepting attitude.

that should be enough to get yall started.
