ahh Blik afaik, photoshop & ms paint don't support animated gif files...i read they're also called .png files too.
i had the same problem, do a search on yahoo or any search engine for gif animators, there's a few around...sorry but i haven't had a look at any yet, so i'm not sure to recommend any.
i don't know the technicalities, maybe Lynx? but when u change the background to black and save it, it's only saving the first frame and discards the others...so u need a program that can read the animated files and you'll have to edit each frame, then you can save as animated gif...normal gif, but the program should recognise it has multiple frames and do so accordingly
