I'm not sure if this has been discussed on here before, but I just kinda discovered it...
I've been a long time fan of van dyk, and bought out there and back as soon as it came out here in the us. My roomate and I were having a discussion the other day about how the best music is film music, because it conveys emotions and a story better than any other type of musical expression. While Out There and Back has it's few HUGE tracks, I have been listening to it in it's entirety lately and noticed something...It feels like a story. When you step back from the individual tracks and listen to the album, some things jump out. Even the song titles make a type of story line.
-Vega (from Arabic (al-Nasr) al-WAqi`, literally, the falling)
-Pikes
-Another Way
-Traveling
-Avenue
-Tell me why
-Together we will conquer
-Face to face
-Love from above
-Columbia
-Out there and back
-Alive
I just thought it was pretty amazing, and became even more impressed with the album as a whole, and van dyk as an artist. Check it out, let me see what you think...
Peace,
