Is it good technique - in your personal opinion - to play different genres (trance/hardhouse/chillout etc etc) in the one set - or, that you should stick to just one?

for example - starting off with some hard house, thru to trance and finishing it off with a bit of chillout?

call me naive, but you need to learn at some stage..

its up to u...but i suggest you find one genre you REALLY like, and focus most of ur attention to it...but if u want to, then dabble in other genres

and if ur talking about diff genres all in one set...go ahead, just try and make nice transitions between genres

it's personal choice but u have to consider the flow of the set and mood. IF yourmixing hard house into progressive it wont work. But just do as u want is the best advice.

Smoking ..umm..something

I think it's a good idea to mix different styles as long as they aren't way too different & the music still flows good...

I'm gettin' into more techno stuff @ 1st w/ some great trance for the most part & a lil' more chill at the end...

that is what bothered me too at first, I did not know which records to buy. I was like well I like some epic trance, but I really like some hard-house, and I love techo. So I said to my self, I will buy an occasional epic trance record, but for the most part I am gonna stick to the Tech-Trance. And now I have my own style and it actually really helps to stick to one thing, but it's always a good idea to mix things up once in a while, to keep the crowd happy!

Lately I have been dabbling with tech-house, melodic trance, and harder progressive (tribal usually) and it works out well I think, but others might say no!

it's possible
but i wouldn't play it unless you're the last dj of the night
i suggest sticking with one genre until you are comfortable with your skill
then you can really start to experiment once you have the basics down pat
