How to make your Technics faster

ok, I posted this in a different thread ("."), but I thought it would be of interest for more people...

here it is. understand that i can take NO responsibilty for any problems. But I can tell you that I know many friends who have done this and didn't have any probs.

*Turn the Techs off. CAREFULLY remove the platter, lifting it straight up, so you don't damage the magnets.

*Remove the 5 screws in the plastic cover under the platter and remove the cover.

*In the top right corner, there is a small light blue knob, it says "pitch" above it. CAREFULLY turn this switch clockwise till it stops. For me this is at a position between 3 and 4 o'clock.

*Re-assemble the techs.

DONE!

this can be done in about 5 minutes, I have even done this at a rave while playing !

The only problem you will encounter is that the pitch slide remains the same length while giving a greater range...so it will be pretty sensitive when you start. So there might be some getting used to it till your beatmatching is back on track.

before you twits do this at least get a multimeter and measure the current through that knob so you can put it back to its correct calibration.

secondly - if i remember correctly doesnt this cause the lower levels (0.1-2% pitch) to be much higher. as in it goes from 2% pitch at 0.1% setting to 0% at 0 setting (extreme example)?

that's part of what i meant when I said:"the pitch slide remains the same length while giving a greater range...so it will be pretty sensitive "
there already is a "gap" where you cannot adjust the pitch between the "lock" position at o% and the first +/- postition next to it. This gap becomes bigger because the pitch range is so much bigger.

But it shouldn't be a problem. When I have to set the pitch in that range in order to match the bpm, I just speed up or slow down the other record till they match. Your example is a bit extreme.

And why would I want to put it back to it's "correct" calibration???

i like my techs the way they are, but this is good to know anyway. if anything i would turn the knob the other way, so the slider has less sensitivity. but, i've gotten pretty used to mixing with it like this already, so it's all good.

besides, my techs are brand new, i think i will at least wait till the warranty expires till i fuck with em.
