I'm a big fan of trance tunes that have beautiful arpeggios -- those fast-flowing swirls of melody which create excitement and an epic sound.
Examples include:
1. Communication (Armin van Buuren, original mix)
2. Deadline (Dutch Force)
3. Imagination (Jon the Dentist)
4. Wonder Where You Are (AVB/Tiesto).
I've noticed, interestingly, that this is mostly a feature of Dutch trance, although I may be wrong. Can someone recommend other trance tunes with prominent arpeggios? Also, have arpeggios "fallen out of favor" recently? -- I haven't heard any new tracks with them in a while. Maybe this goes back to the question of the "decline" of epic trance in 2000.
Thanks!

yup yup, trance choonz like the ones you mentioned are my favs. sadly, it is due to the gradual decline of the uplifting/epic era of trance. sad...but lemme see if i can name some for ya.
airscape - l'esperenza (avb mix)
dj tiesto - sparkles (transa remix)
blank & jones - nightfly (transa remix)
ayla - angelfalls (elemental force mix)
dawnseekers - gothic dream
heh. i'm mentioning these four because i had em in my cd playa today. you prolly have these already due to the fact that they're so damn popular. lol.

Thanx for your reply
Yup, I've heard most of the ones you mentioned. Another one that comes to mind is "Join Me" (Anastasia), it's got some pretty cool arpeggios but it too is fairly old.
Anything else?
Actually I think there's a difference between "epic" and "uplifting"; in fact you can find lots of uplifting tunes today, but almost none of them are epic. I think the arpeggios are crucial in adding an epic dimension to a trance song.
