IMHO It is classic mid 90s RAVE music. Cause face it. Stuff like Bluemchen and Dune are hard to fuckin' mix especially once u hit 200 BPM

but in jungle, since the music is so abstract and mashed up, bad mixes can go undetected by the rugualr clubber...but screw up a house mix...everyone hears it : )

hehe, i laugh every time you say rave, cuz you always capitalize it emaster but i tend to agree with you, attempting to beatmatch at crazy high bpms must be tough, especially when you throw in the vocal stuff, and knowing when certain tracks build up and break down and such.

and i'm sure some styles are harder to spin than others. just say you started spinning, with no experience. i'm sure you could pick up house or progressive lickity split, beatmatching wise. with faster stuff you'd be like "wtf is going on?!" and totally miss bringing the next track in.

We are talkin' about the muzuk ... not the DJs themself. Either you have the skillz or you don't ... is a different story.

having mixed all the styles mentioned...i would say each require their own section of expertise

like jungle/dnb...its not too hard to get them beat matched (although ragga is a bit more difficult because of all the snare drums around the 2nd/4th beats) and the mixes don't often last long at all, however its hard to mix the really heavy basslines that sometimes clash really bad if not done correctly

happy hardcore is actually a lot easier than people make it out to be
i find the faster the bpm's, the easier it is to beatmatch (because you find out a lot quicker if the beats aren't lined up or not) and the mixes often involve lots of cuts and really quick mixes...usually lasting 64 beats or less

the way i figure it, the slower the music, the harder it is to beatmatch it

however you can't really say that one style is harder than the other because nobody out there has completely mastered all genres of music, hell i don't think there's anyone out there who has mastered one genre

to master a genre, i think you have to be able to mix between songs so flawlessly that not even the best trained ear can notice the mix...im completely off track.../end post

Capitalize lol. Yes I do . But I trid mixing Ravea couple of times, it is nearly impossible. Especially with vocals u are right. Since most of the songs I have start out with about 20-50 Sec. of vocals and don't give me enough time to mix them

that maybe withhappy hardcore but most RAVe (as I know it :P) is so filled with vocals that perhaps it makes it impossible to mix. Have u ever tried that? I have miserably Failed but perhaps u can
