Ok I have the chance to pick up some equipment, ei decks and a mixer for $1500 Canadian. The decks are : Tech 1200 mk2 in mint condition with stanton 680 hp needles and slip mats. and the Mixer is a:
Gemini PS-700
2 years old
19" Rack Mixer
Features include:
4 channel
3 phono, 8 line, 3 mic
Cut feature for bass, mid, & high for each channel
Balanced and Unbalanced Master Outputs
Assignable & removable crossfader
assignable send/receive effects loop
Size: 19"w x 9.5"d x 4"h
Weight: 11 lbs.
You guys think I should get it? I'm debating heavily...decks are a given for $1200 with the carts, but he wants to get rid of the mixer as well.
P.S. RJ! Where are you man?? If you read this and haven't gotten rid of your decks let me know asap...

It seems like a pretty sweet deal. It all depends on how serious you are about DJ'ing. For just fooling around and having it as a hobby then that mixer is all you will need. But if you're more serious then I suggest you save your money and put it towards either an Allen & Heath board (xone 464), Pioneer DJM 600, or a Vestax board. Those are quality mixers and you won't have to worry about having to replace any parts due to wear and tear for a very long time. Or you can go for an even cheaper board with 2 channels and save some cash, wich you can put toward vinyl.......then as you get better sell that and buy one of the better boards listed above.
Its all up to you and how much you want to spend.
Good Luck!

Locomoco said it. Make sure everything is allright with the tables motor/pitch etc.
If you know the guy then it's all good, oh btw if you do get em ill come show you a couple of tricks
Never touched technics either !!
It's just as a hobby. The mixer looks alright. Ok I think I will go for it. (Have to get the LOC set up first...heh) I don't know the guy but found out he was selling equipment through a local dj here (Kid Epic). Arsalan as soon as I get the equip I'll let you know man, have to get it set up and everything else.

nice deal for the techs+carts, but how much are you going to pay for the mixer?

I got my decks for $1488 canadian, and that is about as cheap as they come. mine were mk3s though.
what you are getting is a good deal. The mixer is iffy, but, that's not the big thing, just get the decks for $1300 if you can.
or at the very least, tell him you really don't want the mixer, but you'll take it if he gives it all to you for $1400. just be careful not to let the deal run away though, $1500 is a pretty good deal even just for the decks, especially when they come with carts and slipmatts too.
Thanks for your replies everybody. The entire deal including the mixer is $1500. Thing is I dunno if I can get ALL of it right now. I will try damn it...
