anything is crap only if you buy a really crappy brand you people have no idea wat your talking about...on-board sound is good in GOOD MOTHERBOARDS such as Asus & Abit..these are world's 2 leading motherboard brands if you buy a brand computer for e.g. Compaq (HP is owned by Compaq btw), or IBM, depending on the cpu chip that is giving, you will most likely have a good motherboard. Intel has its own motherboards making and they are pretty good but very expensive (whats new about Intel anyways )...
point is there is no worst hardware coz it depends wat kind of motherboard you have..i have ECS mobo and its really crappy..on-board sound sux, the udma support is only 66/100, where most hard-drives nowadays run under 133, 2 ddr slots that support ??? fuck knows what since the manual of the mobo is so cheap
all in all, if you get a good mobo, then you wont have any crappy hardware....

MMX technology, while it wasn't "bad", it sure was a waste, because just a few months after everyone gobled it up, it became completly useless.
