Emotional tracks for a Non-believer

I got into this discussion with my gf about housemusic, especially trance, not having any emotions in it like "popmusic" has.

Its more like the blood, sweat and tears story if you know what i mean.

Ofcourse i disagreed with her and she told me to let her listen to some tracks that show that it's not "just" pushing some buttons to make housemusic(trance).

For example:

AvB - Communication
Vincent de Moor - Shamu
Alibi - Eternity.. to quickly name a few

besides those there are a lot more tracks out there that can convince her

Suggestions?

Most pop songs get their emotion from the vocal elements. If you play some trance songs with emotional vocals to your gf then she may appreciate it more. Stuffs like:

Jan Johnston - Flesh (Tiesto Mix)
Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (Gabriel & Dresden Mix)
Matt Darey Presents Mash Up - Beautiful
Lovechild - Liberta (Moonman Mix)
James Holden - Nothing (Original Mix)
Iio - Rapture (Riva Mix)
The Morrigan - Remember
Sholan - Can you feel (Thrilseekers Mix)
Push vs. Sunscreem - Please Save me (Original)
Olive - You not alone (Oakenfold & Osbourne Mix)
Perpetuous Dreamer - The sound of goodbye
Oceanlab - Beautiful Together (Signum Remix - DanceAddict's Edit)
Comanova - Wishful Thinking (Original Mix)

Some of these are slightly cheesy vocals but will more to a pop music listener.

Armin Van Buuren ft. Ray Wilson - Yet another day (original mix)

Since she likes Pop, I'm guessing lyrics are important for her, so there you go

William Orbit : Barbers Adagio 4 Strings [Ferry Corsten Remix]
Pulp Victim : The World
Ghostland feat. Sinead o'Connor : Guide me God [Paul van Dyk]
Olive : You're not alone
Floyd : Come together

Let her listen to these tunes! Btw, your gf lies, if she still argues that Trance has no emotions!!

I let my new gf listen to some tracks to see what she thought of trance.
Rank 1 - Airwave &
Airwave - When Things Go Wrong
got her a little emotional from what I can tell.
Gouryella - Ligaya &
Human Evolution - Human Evolution (Club Mix)
didn't do it for her...

It's hard to get someone to actually sit down and listen to trance with a non critical ear if they are so stuck on their music. My boyfriend only listens to and spins breaks and he will not give trance a chance. He just dooesn't know how damn good it is! Breaks don't give you emotions like trance does

Oh, and to convince your gf, I would definately go with vocal trance.

Iio-Rapture is a good one. Riva mix or even Deep Dish mix. The Creamer and K remix is good too
Barthezz-On The Move
The Thrillseekers feat. Sheryl Deane-Synaestesia(Fly Away)
10th Planet-Ghosts

First off, we'll agree that the basic element we want to present her is the emotion, IE melody, which means we do NOT want to show her songs that go a lot without a melody, cause she'd be bored for 6 minutes waiting for the 30 seconds peak (That's why Ligaya, for example, didn't do shit for her).

I would also recommend using radio edits ... They are designed for the wider crowd and don't have the intros or outros that will bore your GF terribly.

Also, some tracks have only power, others have power combined with emotion... We don't want either of these, we want stricktly emotion. No "Hard - Uplifting" stuff, sorry.

And as mentioned, since people who aren't really into Trance ussually find their emotions in the lyrics, we might be off with mainly vocal Trance.

And last but not least, you have to consider the possibility of giving her some of them "Euro Trance" (Cheese, as they are reffered to here) cause they are indeed designed for the wider crowds and as with many TAs, they have been the bridge into Uplifting Trance.

Now, I would recommend:
Delerium - Silence (Airscape radio edit)
Moonman - Galaxia (Solar Stone remix vs. Young Hearts Run Free) >>> Which is ussually found as "Solar Stone vocal mix"
IIO - Rapture (Riva radio edit)
Dario G - Feels Like Heaven (Radio edit)
Kosheen - Catch (Ferry Corsten remix)
Lolo - Sunset
System F - Out of the Blue (radio edit)
Rising Star - Touche Me (Vocal mix)
Ocean Lab - Sky Falls Down (Original Vocal mix) >>> This will capture her
