Question Anybody ever used Native Instruments FM7 Synth (VST)?

It looks pretty powerful and there's a library of hundreds of presets.

However, I can't seem to find a synth having a razor-sharp trance sound. When I say "sharp", I mean something like in these tracks:

DJ Spoke vs. Vespa 64 - U Ready 4 Me
DJ Dean - Take Off

And most of those presets use more than 1 synth (in other words they combine them). I've tried playing around to see what kind of sound I can get, but there are lots of knobs and settings and I have no idea what I'm doing, and still can't find that sharp sound.

Any ideas? advice?

By the way: Find good lead synths for Trance is pretty hard!

the fm7 is a great machine. FM synthesis at first glance may be confusing, but its suprisingly very easy once you know what ur doing. Here's a good tutorial to get u started: http://www.computermusic.co.uk/tutorial/fm/fm1.asp

Also, you'd be surprise what kind of sounds you can get from just a beep, by creative use of effects.

hey quddha thanx alot for that link!!!

anyway, i have FM7 for quite a time, but its sooooo difficult for me , i still have no idea how to use it, so i prefer using pro53, or absynth, that is much easier.

Eugene, hop on over to the computermusic uk website like the other guy above said, they have a great tutorial. You'll definately get it after that. FM7 is a good synth. I've heard that many great producers get their basslines from it. In fact, there is one bass preset on the dx7 that many use unedited. I've also heard that VAZ is great and Pentagon is really hard to beat as far as phatness, although the modulation on the Pentagon is limited.
