Unhappy Please help me get this synth-sound...

Here's the main-lead synth-sound I want: File 1

Here's the main-lead synth-sound I currently have: File 2

What settings do I need to get the thin, bright, no-modulation synth in File 1? How do I form this synth?

Thanks a lot (BTW I'm working with Native Instruments FM7 in Fruity)

Firstly, lengthen the attack part of the envelope on your sound. That will take the initial clickiness from your sound making it a bit softer (and more like the example).

Secondly, run the sound through some reverb!!! Get a reverb plugin and flick through the presets.

Thirdly, (not sure if this will do what you want), but you might try running the source sound through a high pass filter, set to just take a little of the lower frequencies from your sound.

Yes, that's exactly the problem: My synth has some low frequencies that I need to get rid of.
Does it mean that I should say LoCut=100%, HiCut=0%?
Or the other way around?

In FM7, select the Z operator (ensure your sound is going through it too ) and move the filter mode slider to HP (high pass). Now increase the cutoff setting until the low frequencies start to be removed.

OK, I did that, but for some strange reason the following always happens:

I have 4 patterns with this sound in Fruity. The last 3 all sound better with the attack and cutoff like you said (although still not quite there, it should be thinner). But the first pattern of this synth-sound, nothing has changed from the original synth that I'm using! (Eurosynth in FM7)

what the hell..?

Seriously, if you have FM7, try using the Eurosynth preset. The first couple of sounds will always sound differently, from any others with all your changes! Why does this happen?

Here's what I mean:
SAMPLE of EuroSynth in FM7
Notice how the first few sounds differ from the normal ones??

no trick to it dude, this sounds exactly like the "trance lead" fm7 preset. Use and eq, bump up the midrange just a bit, 1 or 2 dB, and run it through a reverb till it sounds right. You got the notes wrong too, its C# - C# - C - C# .... ...F repeat

here, I whipped it up with the fm7 and buzz:

something like that anyway, eq might be a bit off

Quddha!
My SAVIOUR!

Could you please just send me the .FM7 preset that you came up with??
(post it somewhere or e-mail: [email protected])

I need the general sound, not just for this particular melody.

I would be eternally grateful!
THANKS!
