Society,politics, life and education
This is a rant!!
First off, I know I have listed a lot of different areas in the heading, but they are related if you let me elaborate.
Let tell you why I am writing this post. Tonight I saw a "COPS" (yes from the US) that highlighted what I am talking about. The reason I am posting it here is because 1. most people here are Canadian and 2. you are younger than I am (I am 31) and I thought you might need this information sooner rather than later.
So you don't waste a lot of time reading this, this is what it will be about. Society is what you want it to be and success it what you make it.
A little about me, I am 31 and I earn in the 60's. I didn't finish university or college but I have a little bit of both. My family has always owned there own business and maybe that has rubbed off on me. I worked from the bottom, up.
Now for the topic. The old saying "It's not what you know, it's who you know" is completely true. You are successful on supplying the "who" with the "what". To elaborate, if you can give someone in power with what they want you will climb the ladder of success faster. It is true throughout every aspect of life. If your best friend has tickets, money, or something, and you supply something they want (a good looking girl/boy you know) then they will select you. The same is true in business. Which brings me to the second point.
"Don't bother impressing your boss, impress your your bosses boss". Whatever field you work in, (especially when your new to the work force) you try to impress your boss. The truth is, it's one level higher that hired you. Whatever you do reflects on you immediate boss, not you. So at every opportunity inform your bosses boss what you are doing.
Now for the education part. You are probably thinking "So, I'm in university, none of this applies to me. I'm going to be a Lawyer."
Education shows you the door, now you have to walk through it. (Kind of like the the "Matix").Pressure is the name of the game, no matter what industry you're in. Show what you can do, have confidence in who you are and what you can provide. If someone thinks you can make a million dollars for them, they will give you a million dollars worth of chances.
So how does this tie into the "COPS" episode, you ask? The person the cop arrested was a drunk who stole a couple of circular saws. The person who he stole it from? a guy who was a drunk as he was. Why? society is determined by the people who live in it. If someone is successful and says someone who is less someone has stolen from him, who wins? Obviously the successful person will. Who dicates society? The person who has political pull. Who has politcal pull? the person who can give the person in power what he wants. And who is that? The person who has education, or what hey are looking for.
Flame me if you want, but sooner (or later) you will realize, this is how society is made up. The richer get richer off of this and the poorer never understand.
