Ok, I need some advice please . Ive just finished a mix that ive recorded direct from the mixer to my MD's line in and then ripped it to .wav using Sound Forge.
Now I want to know where to go from here. Should I bother doing anything else to it before mp3ing it (such as normalising or any other wizzy effects I should know about?).
When it is ready for Mp3ing, whats the best encoder/tools to use for the best quality (at 192kbps).
Ta!

Well I usually record my sets with Cool Edit and then Normalize it and save it to Wav. Afterwards I encode it to mp3 using Xing's AudioCatalyst, works for me!
Cheers!

I usually record my sets with SoundForge directly from the mixer to line-in of my soundacard.
You can edit your set adding some effects if u like them or working on eq and volume to obtain a more harmonic mix. To encode in mp3 you can use directly SoundForge.
It works good for me.

Yeah but the problem I have is that the decks are upstairs in my bedroom, the computer is downstairs in a seperate room filled with lots of other computer crap
Also ive got a limiter on Sound Forge (v6) on the amount of wav's i can convert to mp3, unless you register it, and seeing as im, errr... borrowing it from a friend its best if i DONT register it..
ALSO..... What sort of level is it best to normalise a mix to?

Grab a copy of the lame encoder if the soundforge thing is pissing you off, it's probably a better encoder anyway, www.r3mix.com should have links to it in the encoders section.

hey there.. i hav the same prob with sound forge. its got a mint encoder, but u only get like 20 converts before u need to register it
anyway i asked a similar question in this thread below, so check it out
use a program called "razor lame" its basically a windows front end of the lame encoder which is the best mp3 encoding program anyway. it gives you a neat spiffy window too customise everything and encode
il find a link 2 secs
