Bronte is too small, so i usually go to Bondi and Coogee for size and reliabilty.

Tamarama is a good beach, it's the small one between Bondi and Bronte .. really nice there
Are you looking for a northern or southern beach?

I live about 3-5 mins walk from Bronte and Tamarama, used to be a lifesaver at the latter.
Tama is a fairly trendy beach, lot of young good looking people, also quite popular with gays. Its small and surf is rough though most of the time, though this can be a plus when you like a bodysurf etc
Bronte is a bit more of a family beach, its a bit bigger, surf isnt as rough but still good waves. Nice park area where you can kick a ball around etc, which is one reason I like it. Also has some cafes and nice fish n chip shop etc which Tama doesnt have
