Smiley DJ mix post-production?

question for all the other TA DJs:
what tricks or techniques do you use to make your mixes tighter? i don't mean the actual mixing, but the post production. do you normalize/eq/compress it after it's recorded? i'm trying to give my mixes a little more punch and professional sound, so any advice would be appreciated.

I record till I get it complete. No post mix mastering for me. All my CDs are direct from the tables.

i dont beleive in post mix production/mastering.

the only time it should be used is if you are compiling a professional mix cd(for release)

if u have a good setup (i.e. good carts, wires etc) then there should be no need for post production on a mix..

although if u havent then it might be an idea to play with the eq on it all.

Cool

i used to fiddle with mixes loads when i used my vestax, sounds quality is much better on my DJM-600 tho. Acid is a good program coz u can sharpen as smoothen along with other shit

If i'm doing a mix CD i will always tweak the eq to get that little bit more bass and treble to make it sound more as if it was in a club, compression can also be good if u recorded the mix at a low volume too, just play around, see what u like

compressor!!
use a slight touch of a compressor for ur set, so the mix is in the same level all time, also used in clubs that hires dj's who dont control their gains and eq and of course used in tracks production...

Maxim, here's what I do:

1. Spectralizer - that adds a LOT of punch and color. This is the most important filter. It also compensates for static.
2. StereoExpander (a little)
3. EQ (I emphasize the higher EQ, mid- and high-range)
