I have this mixer also...solid mixer for beginners...pretty basic mixer but has everything you need to start with...at first I bought it for the bpm counter but I realized relying on it was just messing up my attempt at learning to beatmatch. Once I started turning off the bpm counter, I started getting better at beatmatching much faster. So I recommend you do the same, leave the bpm counter off!

its a top mixer

but the only downside is that youll find out that the crossfader is crap if you record your mixes

My friend gots this mixer and has the bmp leds covered up. He says that he never really used them because it threw him off. Nevertheless, it's very nice mixer to start out with.

its an alright mixer. nothing special, just like the rest of the djm series mixers. all overpriced for what they actually are.

I agree. My DJM-500 arrived last Tuesday and I've been attached to it since I opened the box...I love it.

If you are truly serious about djing, you might as well save your coppers and go all out. Get the technics 1210's and the pioneer 600 or the allen and heath xone32 or xone64. You might be saying wtf. but seriously if you do this then you will save your self money in the long run because you'll never have to upgrade unless they break, which isn't going to happen. If you decide you don't want to continue dj'ing then you will always get a fair price (60-75%) when you sell them.

Don't get the djm500, cos once you've used the effects unit on the 600 youll be kicking yourself. lets face it 100 pounds isn't all that much saving

I honestly must be seeing things here. the djm-600 is the all time greatest mixer made. the effects are brilliant, the sound quality is second to none and the poor crossfader is more than made up for by the volume controls. When you consider what they charge for the tascam mixer, or allen and heaths, i'd say it's quite cheap when comparing specifications.
