Your post is kind of confusing, but let me try to see if I understand what you are saying. You want to move your receiver to the other side of the room, but you want to leave your surround sound speakers where they are? Your problem being that your speakers come with a wire already preattached, right? Okay, two things here. First, if your speakers come with a wire that is preattached, then they honestly probably aren't very good in the first place. Second, they are your surround sound speakers, and so not much quality comes out of them in the first place.

If you are concerned about quality as far as djing is concerned, then don't be because your music is only in 2-channel stereo anyway. You have left and right signals. It's not encoded in Dolby surround or THX or anything, so your music can't distinguish between front and back. The same thing will be coming out of your left surround sound speaker that comes out of your left main speaker--but your main speaker will be much much louder.

So on to your problem. Given that I have your problem right, then all you need to do is buy some lamp cord or speaker wire and then joint them with wire caps. When you attach the wires, make sure that you twist them very nicely to get the best contact area. Then put an appropriately sized wire cap on it and there ya go. Just be careful not to have the wire jerked or pulled on after you do that because the attachment will come loose or break. This is the best thing that you can do, in my judgement with what you have. You shouldn't loose that much "quality" because there isn't that much quality going to your surround speakers anyway. Also, just remember that you will want the total length of each wire (from receiver to speaker) to be equal, so that the signal reaches each speaker at the same time and you don't run into phasing problems.

Correct, well it's quite an expensive stereo, and the main speakers are not preattached, just the 2 surround speakers.

I didn't know this, but anyway they will also be used by the tv or by the PC.

Thanks, I'll try this and see what it gives, should the qound be horrible then I guess I'll just move the speakers too.

To take things a little further... You could pull the speaker out of it's enclosure and remove the original wiring. In it's place u could put wire that is of the length that you require. Doing so, you remove the chances of losing quality. But, as you said, it is quite an expensive stereo, so maybe you won't take the risk.

That's exactly what i'd do, assuming you have a soldering iron.

If you just connect two wires with butt connectors from radio shack or soldering them though....like someone said, it shouldn't be bad especially since they're surrounds.

I'll come watch your installation one of these days and i'll see what i can do about it
