Ok to answer your questions:
igottaknow:
I'm running Windows 98 because I've tried XP and my computer goes slower then it already is. My hardware is fairly old aswell (plus, intgrated so it's all ghey). I've reinstalled and updated drivers too. If it's a memory problem, I'm doubting that because even when theres no other applications open but Winamp and Windows (all background progs closed) it still does it.
jonsimmonds:
Yeah I did format when I came back from XP. The virtual memory settings are set to be handled by Windows. The drive hasent been defragged in a while, but only because I cant really. Either the computer will crash, or it will have the risk of overheating. As for games, I'm clueless too. You would think with more ram games would run smoother, but I get the complete opposite (btw, the weird ram amounts is because this system motherboard is integrated, so the video (SiS 630E) shares some of the ram as frame buffer (can be set to 2,4,8,16,32,and,64MB) so that takes a dent out of performance. (mine is currently set at 4MB). I don't know anybody who uses the type of ram I do because it's just to old.

:P
Mr.Mystery:
More ram = slower performance. Damaged..I don't think so, but who knows. Theres no spyware on this box and I can assure that. I reset the CPU clock speed back to it's original, 800MHz. I can only run Windows98 on this box because any newer uses up a whole wack of my resources, making it slower then it is now. My sound card is integrated onto the motherboard, and, please don't laugh, it's a CMedia Chip (no idea what model because It's nowhere to be found either in software or on the chip), but it does the job. The drivers have been reinstalled and updated, so it may not be that. Windows Media Player, mIRC, Sonique, Music Match Jukebox were others I've tried other than Winamp, and no difference.
KilldaDJ:
When I play audio, the only things running would be Winamp, Explorer (need that), and sometimes mIRC. In Windows 98 I don't think it's possible to set the priority of things, though I could be wrong. The registry should be fine beacuse this OS was only installed two weeks ago, and not much programs have been installed onto the computer.
Eeeee. ;x Btw, I'm gunna try WindowsXP again, and spend the whole day confiuring it, and hopefully it will get better.
