Techno related
Which club has hosted the best sets you have recently heard? I dont know about Trance, but as far as Techno is concerned,
I would have to say that the 1040 Leipzig has hosted the hardest nights of 2K2 and beginning of 2003.This of course is in
line with the recent feeling that a lot of people are getting tired of schranz and more danceable techno, wether hard or
mainstream.
Is the A-Team: Major Rush,Sven Vaeth,Umek,Adam Beyer,Marco Carola,Chris Liebing,Bens Sims (no, these names are not the most
or least significant I just dont want to spend two days listing and deciding, starting a discussion war over sixty pages
long)
well, are they to be rivaled by Daniel Benavente,Cora S,Mark Hawkins,Bill Youngman,Subhead,Attuk,Murl Haggard,Marc Village,
Kratzer,Dorfmeister,Todmacher,DisX,Klima,Fengari...?If you into techno (and u like it hard, minimal & raw)I strongly recomend
a visit to the 1040 Leipzig or the Neue Heimat in Stuttgart (yes, Leipzig east Germany), or if that is too far check out
the Blueprint's Pure Filth nights in Nottingham. If either are out of reach contact me and I can stick some sets on cd to
show you what I mean.
If of course, you ambitious like myself and actually produce or spin yourself, I want point to Humpty Records in Stuttgart
(no dont take the ferry just log on to their site and check it out.Recently purchased vinyls of mine include Ibrahim Alfa,
DisX,Mark Hawkins,Bill Youngman,Subhead (you want to check phil or jason live absolute killers)
all very hard stuff.I think the owner of the store is the great Benavente himself so they are very forthcoming with help on
international orders, and they are well well stocked as far as I can tell). Ohhh, before I get flooded with mails of correct
-ion, abuse and threatening references, I want to mention Tresor, has been and still on the forefront on non-commerce techno
label and club wise.
And if you do buy vinyl, I bet you are already aware, but Andreas Kremer is producing conveyor belt style(not in the bad
sense), very very recommendable stuff, if again you like it hard to extra hard galvanised titanium bolts.
I will drop dead ignoring these recent slammer producers Lekebusch,Glenn Wilson and the Liberators have also produced a
banging 12", I think its by Julian Liberator.
PS Im not advertising here, just trying to guide some of you hardcore tech-heads towards the 1040/Neue Heimat sound, which
is definately hard, refreshing and comforting to know that there are still pioneers out there, already in the game or waiting
to blow.
