lock system for your turntables

I don't know about you guys but I constantly worry about my turntables being stolen. I invested a lot of money in those things and anyone that knows anything knows they could get a large return on them if they were pawned or something. I live in a college dorm room which has some security, but I still worry to the point of developing an ulcer. I was wondering if any of you felt the same way? And if so, do you think it'd be a good idea for Technics and other TT companies to feature a lock type system such as the one featured on some laptops. It'd be an easy modification to make and the company that did so could have 1 more feature on all other companies. Let me know what you think.

don't steal this idea n make millions of dollars on it either, i'll have to kill you.

I guess that's why most DJs buy coffins or t-table cases, 'cause you can lock them.

the locks on computers are glued on and screwed on. It would be pretty easy to modify them for use on the tech12's, but then it would make you turntable pretty damn ugly.

i say just a couple good cases or coffins and set em up that way. if anything, it will hide them atleast.

I think, keeping your eyes on them is the best protection there is, never ever leave your babies alone
I was wondering, if some1 might be able to grab away a turntable, he must be able to grab a coffin... dont you think?

im a lot more scared of someone trying to steal my vinyls when im at a gig than someone taking my turntables from my house

i watch my record crate like a hawk and i put a lock on it whenever im playing out (odyssey case)
people say im paranoid but hey, i'd rather be paranoid than be a victim

tips:

keep them on a low profile...don't go around saying "yeah im a dj i have turntables that cost lots of money" (not saying you do...but you know how lots of djs are like that)

don't let unknown people into your place
my parents always tell me the story of how they bought a new stereo system and had a party not to long after (this is when they just moved in together and were young)...a week later someone broke into their place and stole just their stereo

get insurance on them
might cost you a bit extra but hey if you're htat worried about the investment

another thing that you could do is put soem sort of alarm on them
im sure you can get a pressure sensitive alarm or something for pretty cheap

wouldn't a coffin case just make it easier for the people to steal the turntables? I mean, you put them in a case for them where they can be together. Why don't I just give them the key to my place n give them a schedual of when I WON'T be in the room? The Coffins would be a good thing if I was moving them around a lot, but my tables are pretty permanent.

Then you better lock your doors and beware, cuz no way in hell that TT will ever get a lock, it's just (normally) not necessary.

Your best bet is to insure them like lax said, it's not gonna cost you a lot but you will get them insured and if they are stolen than you will get your money back.

Another thing if you purchased your tt's with visa, it has a stolen policiy read up on it it's pretty good.

My advise would be to get all sorts of Fierce Tattoo's and Scarface posters and just tell people not to fuck with you.
