just wondering if anyone still listens to chessy club euro on this board?

any closet fans out there?

i know that my current love for trance sprouted from the old dance tunes back in the day (grade 6ish, early 90s) listening to artists such as Real McCoy on Energy 108. Then they sold out to pop. Then they went under. Sereves em right, ******s.

lol... Umm, yeah I do, on occasion. If you know me though, you know that I like a bit of everything, especially when it comes to music. There we go... I'm out. Who's next?

I think a lot of us got into trance through the Euro "gateway." I don't listen to much of it anymore, but I don't mind too much when they play it at the shitty K-town clubs (as opposed to all the usual hip-hop garbage).

I compare Euro dance to crack cocaine, it is cheap, but can be highly addictive, though trance seems to have broken me away from my cheap addiction.

Confession time:

All thru highschool (early 90's) i was a closet euro fan. As all my friends were listening to Public Enemy, Eric B and Rakim, Fugees, and the rest of hip hop in its prime. I would go home pop in some real McCoy, X-Tendamix Cds, Euro Compliations and turn on energy 108. Sure I liked both but my love of dance music was a deep dark secret.

At my prom I remember the song: Playahitty - 1 2 3 train with me came on. When I knew all the words to the song my friends were astonished and I was nearly disowned.

When i look back on it I can understand my evolution to Trance. But on the other hand I'm glad my love for old dance music is dead and gone. But then again when your 13 your allowed to enjoy cheesy dance.

You're the greatest, Az! I totally remember that Playahitty song. I used to love it. Damn, Energy 108 was my favourite too. I thought they were doing well, then *poof*, they were gone.

Thanks!

I remember when Energy 108 first came on the air in the early 90's (91?). It was an era where radio could be a little original and play stuff that was fresh and new.

Anyone remember the show Street Beat with Scott Turner that aired everyday from 6-7? Energy 108 was raw back then and they would play tunes that were gonna make history and create the elctronic dance scene we know today. I rememeber hearing in 92 or 93 SHY FX - Original Nuttah... it blew my young mind. Imagine hearing a Jungle Track on commercial radio now?

Sadly "Energy 108" tunrned into "Energy Radio" and their more cutting edge content was replaced with easily consumable more commercial music.

i've never been into euro. I used to think that euro WAS dance music, so I used to say things like "i hate dance music." When i hear old euro it reminds me of really boring sunday afternoons when i would watch electric circus (remember when it was filmed fduring the day?)and eat Kraft dinner because my friends wouldn't play with me
