You will need some extra VST instruments and fx as well as some decent samples. I don't think what FL comes with is really enough to get a decent sound out of. You don't need any other hardware although a nice soundcard can be usefull as well as some decent speakers/moniotors.

hmmm... sorry mate, but I don't understand what you just said.

The Edirol PCR-50 is just a midi controller. It does not make any sounds. Fruity loops makes the sounds but the synths that come with fruity loops are not very good, so you might want to consider getting some better ones like z3ta+, pro-53, atmosphere, etc.

You should also look for some nice percussion samples to use in your songs. These can be found for free at various places online if you look hard enough.

The job of the midi controller is to play the synths. When you press one of the keys on the keyboard, it will play that note from the synthesizer on the computer. These soft-synths are referred to as VST instruments (VSTi). Program like Cubase and Fruity Loops host these VST instruments.

The dials and sliders on the controller can also be used to change the parameters (cutoff, resonance, distortion, etc) on the soft-synth rather than using the mouse to change the dials on the screen.

No, it won't do anything. The midi controller does not make any sounds, it just controls other synths (either hardware or software). You need to plug it into either a hardware device like a synth or a computer to control software and hardware connected to the computer.

Hi there Alex!

I have to agree with Hey Cheggy here. To achieve a pro sound out of FL you need some good VST and decent samples.
