Someone (me) accidently stepped on his Etymotic ER-4 and is in need of some new closed-style earbuds. I'd love to go out and get another pair of ER-4s, but can't afford to spend over $200 on earbuds at the moment. So I'm looking for a cheaper alternative. I can only use the Apple supplied iPod earbuds a little longer. From what I've read, many are recommending the Sony EX-70, or EX-71s. Anyone have a pair of these? Are the best earbud for my buck, or is there another pair I should be looking at.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

i use etymotic er-20. i like em, and they are only $12.

OUCH, dude, that's gotta hurt. Go for the ER-6's. I have those and I love them. Of course compared to ER-4's, everything's gonna sound like crap.

I've read good things about the ER-6. Almost half the price of the ER-4. Thanks for the tip.

Dood wtf? $200 goddammm don't they cost like 1/10 of that normally? what are these things? and i though my panasonic headphones i got for my e.wear were pretty expensive @ $14.90... but then again thats in Australia...


You could get Sony's, they are madness.. although ive seen KOSS have bud styled ones as well? correct me if im wrong here?

I've noticed there is a big gap between low and high end earbuds, without much inbetween. why are you looking for earbuds only? What about regular headphones.

I'm looking for an earbud for portability reasons. I don't necessarily want to carry headphones around on the commuter train, or while at the gym.
