I have a similar story to share...

I went to a small highschool (600-700 ppl) and it was really like a community. 95% of the people knew each other, students, teachers. The school would never close till late late because students and teachers are there till 9-10ish doing various things like sports or doign stuff for the various clubs etc. anyways you get the point.

Well, one of my teachers was very very well liked by everyone. He was the kind of guy that everyone enjoyed being around. He was heavily involved with the community, spent a lot of his personal time at the school doing things for students. He was a great guy.

During a fundraiser for our highschool, there was dancing going on and well, said teacher was coaxed into dancing by some students. So they were all dancing, having a good time.

then BOOM he had a heart attack. Died that night. The students who asked him to dance (they were on the volleyball team, he was the coach) were absolute wrecks. For the entire next week, the entire school was in mourning. Even my chem teacher, who's a pretty uptight guy, was close to tears. The school was virtually shut down. Tables were set up with gigantic sheets of paper in the foyer, and people were invited to write down messages of condolences for his family. Therapists came in to deal with those people who were traumatized by it. We had a presentation for him and his family in the gym on friday next week. A week later, the funeral for him was held in a theatre, and it was packed. Everyone came. Students, teachers, friends. His highschool football jacket was displayed in a frame in the school hallway.

I'll be honest, I wasn't one of those people needing therapy. But I hope this might give some insight as what to expect.

omg, that's really awful

hey man im really sorry about that. i know exactly what u are feelin

in 8th grade my science teacher died. it was really weird. it was the monday after sept. 11 and people already felt weird. on monday we came in expecting a normal school day but we found out he had died in his sleep. the whole day was horrible... all the teacher were wrecks... he had lived right across from the schooll and had taught there for EVER... longer than any other teacher... and all the kids grades 5-8 knew him, it was just horrible.

and then this year in a private catholic high school of about 1000+ kids, a junior died. i probably saw him before becuase the school was small and i see just about everyone everday. it was really strange... they anounce that he died in his sleep during 4th period and lunch was next, and so many people were crying it was unbelievable. and they had sheets where u coudld say somethign about him and sign it and they posted them around the school, almost like megimaster. they also had a little memorial/shrine with a picture of him and a candle... it was really bad. i didnt know him but i knew his brother. poor guy.

once agian im sorry about that man. hope things get better.

wayyy back in gr. 7, we lost a teacher. one of the general student populace's favourite teachers too, due to cancer.

all you can really do is remember the good times, speak with peers that feel the same way that you do and share some stories. that always helps. and don't forget to attend his funeral and pay your respects that way. he would totally appreciate it i'm sure.
