It's 4:47am... I still class just now as if it is late on yesterday. It won't be tomorrow (i.e. today) till I fall asleep and wake up again...

Too late.

Too early doesn't make sense because it implies that something even earlier i.e. 1:30 AM would be even more extreme, whereas it would in fact be less extreme.

Too early means "it would be better if it were later." But that's the opposite of what people are generally trying to say, so it makes a lot more sense to say "too late."

3:30 am is too late at night.

I'd say too late at night if I was staying up until 3:30, makes sense to me. Too early would be if I got up at, say, 5am.
