I have these exact turntables (2 of 'em). IMO they are great for beginners. The torque is not spectacular but it is decent and certainly workable. The pitch is good and steady but not perfect.
All-in-all they are good, they will last you a good year. What is certain is that you will outgrow them. I.e. you will come to a point where you will notice the shortcomings of the pitch. This will take time. One day you will see that you will need Techs. Then the only solution will be to buy Techs.

EDIT: When it comes to beginner/low-end turntables, Numark usually has the upper hand, or so I've noticed.
