The 80's and the cartoons and toys they had. Today, nothing compares to it

i was just watching GI Joe the movie, Transformers the movie, some Masters of the Universe episodes, The Real Ghostbusters toons, and Thundercats and i must say it brought back so many feelings and memories when i was a kid and was collecting and playing with these toys. From the bunch i constantly watched back then, Masters of the Universe is the best for me. Transformers were really cool and i actually was one of those kids that never read the instructions to transform the robot. Thundercats is cool as well but lacked the characters. Remember Jem?? yeah it was all girls but i found myself watching it every saturday morning.
Ninja turtles came on later and they are actually bringing it back and also He man but nothing compares to the old ones seriously. The new ones look all beefed up and fake.

These days, they don't make toys like they use to. Also cartoons like bakc in the 80's. It was funny to read the back of the transformers movie saying "It is the Year 2005". Were like 2 years away from it.
These days toys don't give kids imaginations anymore. The toys actually now fire rockets by the push of a button or real swinging action or just too much gadgets to hamper the realism and imagination. Now they shoot out bright neon nerf like projectiles. it's pretty lame. Even the new transformers look toooooo bright. What happened? Maybe video games took over and toys don't have anymore space in the market. Todd Mcfarlane figures are ok though. But not meant to be played by kids.

I was wondering when did GI Joe, Transformers, Ghostbusters and any other 80s toons come out? When did it die out?
What was or is your favorite cartoon of the 80's. I remember there were other cartoons like Visionaries, Wheeled warriors and others.

They don't make toys like they used to?

You're right, they're now 1223933x better.

And sure, kids can play with them

It's cuz kids dont watch as many cartoons as we used to. Now it's all anime, and that can be pretty adult sometimes.
But have you ever noticed the big 80's revival going on? He-man cartoon, GiJoe/Thundercats comics, Transformers videogames.

I agree. Toys aren't the same as they used to be. Now all the toys do the talking and the playing for them.

Maybe it's because those cartoons were part of our childhood, so they seem better than the ones we have today. Probably, in 2020, people will be like "Oh, we had the best cartoons back in 2000: Dexter's Laboratory, Cow and the Chicken, The Angry Beavers, ..."

in my opinion, the games and toys out now are somewhat better cos of the advancement in technology

but the new cartoons are stoopid..i mean...think about it..pokemon??? wtf

remember Robotech, Mighty Orbots, Flash Gordon, Fantastic 4, Batman, Transformers (the first generation was the best)???

damn..these kids now watch totally mutilated storylines of the classics

for example....

the new Anime version of Transformers has galvatron from the begining nstead ofmegatron...Optimus prime is a freakin fire truck and not a tractor trailor like in the original...and the story starts off with some scientest of some japanese kid gettin kidnapped by galvatron unlike the original pilot which i have on tape...

I had the biggest crush on She-Ra. She was so frikkin hot!

Ya, old school cartoons ruled! Jem was pretty good, so was transformers.

Although I'm not counting anime as cartoons, becuase anime just rocks. When you say cartoon, I think of american animation (or american japanese anime ripoff)etc.
