The "key" of the record?

Since the search engine won't let me search for "key", can someone explain to me as much as they can what the key of the record is?

You mean the key of the song? As in it's in A minor or C or something. I don't know much about this, but I take it this is what you're refering to. As you change the speed of a record, the key changes, so some people try to key match their tracks by remembering what key each track is in (or writing it down) so that the mixes sound more harmonious.

Maybe someone else can give a little more info. I never bothered with it myself.
