quiet thread of self disappointment

Either I mastered it really poorly, or i'm really not good at making trance yet, but compared to the rest of the TA producers, my stuff isn't that great.
meh. I just had to vent.... I'm sure my technique will improve over practice.

Don't worry mate. Your techinuques will improve with practise, I'm sure. I just started out and have only worked out how to lay down a simple beat in Reason. But i'll stick at it... Persistence will pay off in the end...

We all feel like that sometimes.
Well, I do anyway.
Every time I listen to someone else's song I'm surprised by the amount of creativity they have compared to me.
I've been toying around with Reason so much that I've mastered the program but what's the use if I don't have the creativity? The tunes just become empty shells...

i realy do feel that too sometimes....
i know that the techniqe and the normal understing of synths will come with time...
but what does realy disturb me , is that i almost have no knowlagde in music writing\playing (i only played 2 months on my little organ when i was 10 )
...

but whats important to me now is that i realy enjoy creating stuff, and sometimes i manage to create even interesting stuff... so when i dont feel like it i leave it , but than it somehow comes again ]

hope i'll manage toi start a new track soon

Leave it for a bit, relax, do some other type of music and come back to it.

Or, read endless production articles, hone your skills, and keep working hard.

Personally, I try to choose the stress-free route

I think everybody go through this sometimes, lol!
Guess we hav to learn how to deal with frustration.
Yous skills will improve with time, that's for sure, but u can exercise it to fasten the process.
Try choosing some simple, not so complex, and diferent songs, and try to remake some parts od them, i mean remake in terms of structure.
Try to catch the notes and/or chords and reconstruct the bass, beat, percussion, synths, and so on. Dont mind if it dont sound identical, just do it, and keep doing with more and more diferent songs and your ear will begin to understand well what sounds like what, what type of layering of sounds give what feeling, and cool things will start to automatically "pop" in your head when u are taking a shower, or doing casual things.
Listen, listen and listen to diferent songs all the time, but listen with analytic ears, paying atention on how the sounds r layered, layering is very important and often forgoten, u cant make a very gorgeous song just with one big synth alone

listen, when I started out 3 years ago my music was garbage. When i go back and listen to some of my earlier tracks, or even tracks that I made a few months ago, I can hear a very noticable difference in quality. I can't put into words how much I've improved over time, in all aspects of music production. And now I've even got my first vinyl release lined up for this fall!

Just stick with it, and keep turning out the tracks. You'll get better, guaranteed.

i just started production this month... and it's taken me 2 weeks just to locate where in logic audio i can get the sounds to play off of my synth module... and i still havent figured it out!!!!!!!

I've been complaining all night about how shit this is.. and my brother wants to kick me outta the project LoL

All we have is this riff (that is somewhat ok) but.. all we do is play it over and over and over again like we worship this piece of shit for unknown reasons.. and the sound of it becomes so annoying that we just shut down production for the evening and continue smoking weed some more.

I knew it was gonna be tough to produce music.. but we cant do shit all.. its so frustrating.. i dont even wanna live anymore

lol man, you shouldnt say stuff like this....
maybe insted of smoking drugs, sit infront of logic & the manual. and start reading the manual, dont give up, and while reading, try creating stuff you just learned. also remember you can always come here and ask questions if something is not well explained in the manual.
