Viper Room - review
Well, considering that I originally planned to stay home and catch up on homework, it turned out to be a pretty exciting night.
Headed down to Viper room with SQ-K just after 1ish (dammit missed free entry), where we met up with Hybrid Junkie and good ol'Steve. Hadn't been there before, so wasn't expecting much, but I was quite pleasantly suprised with the crowd. People were actually wearing clothes, and but for this one dude who kept calling out to the DJ that was playing at the time, the crowd had a nice friendly vibe.
The DJ playing when we got there, was into his harder kinda of trance, but he finally got my attention when he dropped Agnelli & Nelson - Everyday 2002. Sadly he then reverted back to hard energy trance.
2:30am eventually arrived, and we finally got to here some decent trance - Steve was on the decks. Playing to a pumped up, but fairly unfamiliar crowd, Steve played accordingly with the style that we have all come to know and love - "fucking uplifting trance". He started of with AVB - Yet another day (dub mix), and from there it just got better!
Other Tracks
Midway - Inca
Oceanlab - Beautiful Together
4 Strings - Diving
Alibi - Eternity
4 Strings - Take me Away
Carlo Resort v 4 Strings - Revelation
Delerium - Silence
Kansai - Rococco
Riva - Time is a Healer (AvB mix)
Push - Strange World
and others i think
The crowd fucking loved it, and I enjoyed the fact that the crowd was appreciating trance at its best. Although some may think that there were too many anthems, it was what the crowd wanted, and as some of you would know, Steve Strangis is at his best when he's playing the music he likes most. Keep up the good work!!!
Would have liked to stayed for Charlie Zee's set, but sleep was awaiting us all. Was overly impressed with the night on the whole, and even more excited by the fact that trance had taken one more step forward into the melbourne scene.
