Viper Room - review

Well, considering that I originally planned to stay home and catch up on homework, it turned out to be a pretty exciting night.

Headed down to Viper room with SQ-K just after 1ish (dammit missed free entry), where we met up with Hybrid Junkie and good ol'Steve. Hadn't been there before, so wasn't expecting much, but I was quite pleasantly suprised with the crowd. People were actually wearing clothes, and but for this one dude who kept calling out to the DJ that was playing at the time, the crowd had a nice friendly vibe.

The DJ playing when we got there, was into his harder kinda of trance, but he finally got my attention when he dropped Agnelli & Nelson - Everyday 2002. Sadly he then reverted back to hard energy trance.

2:30am eventually arrived, and we finally got to here some decent trance - Steve was on the decks. Playing to a pumped up, but fairly unfamiliar crowd, Steve played accordingly with the style that we have all come to know and love - "fucking uplifting trance". He started of with AVB - Yet another day (dub mix), and from there it just got better!

Other Tracks
Midway - Inca
Oceanlab - Beautiful Together
4 Strings - Diving
Alibi - Eternity
4 Strings - Take me Away
Carlo Resort v 4 Strings - Revelation
Delerium - Silence
Kansai - Rococco
Riva - Time is a Healer (AvB mix)
Push - Strange World

and others i think

The crowd fucking loved it, and I enjoyed the fact that the crowd was appreciating trance at its best. Although some may think that there were too many anthems, it was what the crowd wanted, and as some of you would know, Steve Strangis is at his best when he's playing the music he likes most. Keep up the good work!!!

Would have liked to stayed for Charlie Zee's set, but sleep was awaiting us all. Was overly impressed with the night on the whole, and even more excited by the fact that trance had taken one more step forward into the melbourne scene.

Yeah, top night. I wa pleasantly surprised with the large Viper crowd -- really good honestly. Friendly, smiling, up-for-it, and the roided-up muzza count was low. Nice one!

Last night was one more step in Melbourne's trance revolution. Strangis stepped up to the decks at 2:30am and proceeded to completely rip the joint apart. While I was running around handing out passes for 5AM, I had almost everybody ask me: "Who's the DJ? He's unbelievable!" I could inform them that it was indeed Melbourne's best trance DJ, Steve Strangis. It got to the point where those lucky enough to get a copy of AirSpace wanted (and got) it signed... Upwards and onwards I say!

Cheers to Mangler and Hybrid Junkie, whose company made it an exceedingly enjoyable night! Well worth getting down there folks, it was a hell of a lot of fun.

P.S. Add Warrior - If You Want Me, Kosheen - Catch (Ferry Corsten Remix: CHOOOOOOON!) and Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (John 00 Fleming Remix) to the tracklist.

Big ups to Stevie for his set!! unfortunately I couldnt make it as I had a 21st to play at with Reemo (we becoming quite the birthday party dj's) as we've had quite a few recently. sounds like you ripped it up!!

just to let people know, Reemo played Viper on the Friday nite. The place was more rocking than I have ever seen it. The crowd is different to what I'm used to but was a welcome change...

Tunes that Reemo played as Temple @ Viper

Ramirez - Accelerando
Dito -Sky
Silverblue - do you know
Sunnblind - believe (Nu-Nrg mix)
Kirsty Hackshaw - Fine Day (Murano dub) ---- biggest tune of nite!!
Shane 54 - Souvenir de Chine
Vincent and Quentin - Joyride
Keemo - the dawn

and lots of other.. but unfortunately I struggling atm. haha

This was anawesome set... possibly one of the best I have seen himplay as he adjusted perfectly to this new environment (as he hadnt played there before) and played to the crowd!! big ups to man!! Jules

good on Steve for introducing those surprised faces @ viper to some real 'fucking uplifting trance'

I'm also glad to hear that viper wasn't completely muzzaville... cos everyone tells me the scene in Melb is attracting more and more yobbos and shit. How is Bass Station these days anyone? I miss bass @ cbd
