I think that if you want turntables, then go with Techs or TTX1s or the high end stantons, str8-100s I think. If you want a cd deck then go with the CDJ-100. All of the other functions on all of the other cd decks are just extra crap, IMO. Most of the looping functions and things like that, you will either never use, or can get on a good mixer--which is essential if you are going to be buying top-end dj equipment. The CDJ-1000 is nice, so is the 800, but if you are going to buy a cd player that feels like your spinning with vinyl, then why not just spin with vinyl? If you want the benifits of both, then get both. The main benifit of being able to use both isn't any special functions that you can get on the equipment itself, it is that you don't have to limit yourself to music that you can only get on vinyl or only on cd.
My advise is that you pick a medium, cd or vinyl and choose to spin with one or the other to start off with. You didn't include any background info, so I don't know if you already have tables or not, or what mixer you have.
My setup includes 2X cdj-100s, a DJM-600 and 1X Numark TTX1. I buy most of my music on vinyl, then record it and burn it to cd, which is generally what I prefer mixing with. I buy vinyl for a couple of reasons. First, I can take advantage of the fact that I can buy much more trance on vinyl than on CD. Second, I have a CD-burner and therefore it is much easier for me to transfer music from vinyl to cd than vise versa. This way, I am never left with a limitation of what tracks I can spin on any given set of equipment, be it 2 cd decks, 2 turntables, or one of each.
I prefer using CDs because that way if I ever loose, break or scratch my CD, then replacing it take 4 minutes and about 30 cents. It is much more difficult and expensive to do that with vinyl. Not only that, but once my master copy of my vinyl is recorded onto my computer, then I always have a high quality backup.
As far as best value for your money, the two pioneer products are quite new to the market--I don't know much about the denon deck. You pay for that, since it is currently the top-of-the-line product that they offer. They are currently $1130 on PSSL.com. If you can spend $2260 on a pair of decks, then why not buy two cdj-100s ($600 for a pair) AND a pair of Tech 12s ($980 for the pair) or Numark TTX1s ($800 for the pair). This way you would have an extra $680-$860 to spend on something else...most of the price of a DJM-600, if you want, or an effects box, or MUSIC!
If you are set on the high-end priced equipment, then have you looked at the Pioneer DMP-555? It sells for about $1000 and is a cd deck that can play MP3s, cds, cd-r and cd-rw. It has scratch and loop functions and is much more compact over the CDJ-1000. I believe that it is the same dimentions as the cdj-100.
Anyway, remember that I can only offer advice based on what you told me, which wasn't much If you have more questions, and give me more specifics, then I'd be happy to try and help you to the best of my abilities. Either way, if you go for it, then tell us what you decided on!

Ahoy, Mate! I work for online ProAudio and ProDJ equipment store, your best bet price vs features vs benefits is Denon DNS5000(btw. one can perform function of 2 CD t-tables, and 2 of those is even better.)Denon CD t-tables are the only ones in the world to have a motorized plate, which makes the unit feel like you're spinning vinyl, on board effects, hot tray, dual laser pickup, dvd rom motor(not an actual dvd player, but has same motor, which means longer life and much better torque) check out these videos:

The reason i wanted to get another cd player is because i wanted to do some scratching with a cd. Because it is easier to get sound samples from the computer, burn it to cd and play scratch with it.
The gguy at the record store told me that the cdj1000 doesnt have many differences from the cdj800 other than its price. So I guess i count cdj1000 out.
With the denon dns5000, yes it can perform function of 2 cd turntables, but it'll cost more than cdj1000 isn'it?? Does it have functions worth that much?
Does Dmp555 supports scratching like the 800? ive seen it in store before but i never knew anyone that have one..or have used one..
So is it like an mp3 capable cdj1000?? |
Email me about pricing on Denon DN5000S vs Pioneer CDJ800. DMP unit is not worth getting, imo. It is quite expensive and I don't think you can scratch with it at all. Just doesn't look comfortable. I have a cdj 800 and I am not thrilled with it, I have 2 Denon DN5000S on their way.
