Dutch Producer/DJ Remy has been on the forefront of the Dutch dance scene for over 10 years now. This year, the release of his first ever artist album entitled 'BANG!' sees the day of light. Remy has already promoted his new album at the WMC in Miami this year and he also had to play there as well at Dance Valley at Opium Garden and at Club Space. The reactions there look very promising!
To Dutch clubbers DJ Remy is almost a living legend. The way he mixes is second to none, and whatever and wherever he plays, he seems to get hold of the dancefloor and definately puts it on fire! Many people were wondering when his long awaited next mix compilation is being released. Well, as the perfectionist he is, Remy already mixed his 6th Silly Symphonies compilation "Sound of Remy" last year but held it back because he was not satisfied with the results.
In the meantime he's been working on his artist album. The album is called 'BANG!' which reflects the way he spins, whether it's pumping progressive tech-house or banging techno, it's right in your face. Now that his mix album was postponed, his artist album will be more of a producers mix album because the tracks have been mixed by him as well. Remy refers to one of his own tracks when he explains the title of his album: "Maybe you remember my release 'In your Face' on Taste Recordings? Well, that's exactly what I mean. This is me, and this is what I stand for. No collaborations, and no trip hop or other music I don't play as a DJ".
Quite unique is the fact that he has produced the album all by himself. On 3 tracks he worked together with Roland Klinkenberg, with whom he also produces and performs live as RR Workshop. As not many producers work all by themselves, a proud Remy explains why he's done it this way: "I wanted to make music that reflects who I am as a person and a DJ, so this album has become a very personal one for me, and I am very excited about it! It contains a diverse range of music, and I have a very good feeling about it due to the reactions I already got from several people.”
The album will be released as a 12 track album on CD, and as a double vinyl package including four of the more dancefloor tracks from the album. DJ's like Anthony Pappa, Danny Howells and John Digweed are raving about his new tracks BANG!, ‘Dustsucker’ and ‘Scrambled’, but the album also contains some laidback music, as you'll hear in 'Coral Reefah'. Remy's BANG! will be out 2nd week of June through Additive. The vinyl package is available through Additive/Taste from the last week of May. (18/04/03) |
