2 points:
- Your geting a ATA100 harddrive, your motherboard comes with a SATA controller so i would recomend you get a SATA harddrive

- your geting a 2.66GHz P4 which is 533mhz fsb, your geting a motherboard with support for 800mhz (quad pumped from 200mhz) your ram is DDR400 (200mhz doubled!) so id recomend you get a 800mnhz cpu (quadpumped from 200mhz, why do people like to play with fsb's soooo much) so a P4 2.4C (800mhz fsb) would be a cpu id recomend as the higher fsb does make a difference.

You havnt listed a video card do you plan to use your current one or have you forgot? atm ATI are just slightly owning Nvidia, the 9600pro is a nice mid range card.

Alternativley you could get a system based on a AMD xp+ cpu, Defo get a Nforce2 chipset mobo as they are the best chipset out there atm, a good motherboard from what a number of people i know use is the ABIT NF7 v2.0, match that with a XP2500, and your laughing, also overclockings a dream with this kinda setup but thats down to you if you wanna or not!

2 questions which could help more, what do you plan to use it for? and whats your budget?

1) there ain't any performance difference between a sata drive and a pata drive of the same speed. the biggest benefit atm is a smaller cable. but yeah, you'll fork out a few extra dollars for sata.

2) a 533 fsb is okay if you plan on oc'ing it to 800

3) ati is not slighty owning nvidia, they are totally owning nvidia! ati has better image quality and ps2.0 (dx9) performance. if you plan on playing half-life2 and dx9 games, get ati.

4) an amd (xp) box will be easier to oc and it will cost less.

5) don't go cheap on the power supply. :P

ati is more phuture gaming proof than any nvidia cards any day. nvidia cards are best for yesterday's dx8,8.1 games. if u want to play games from tomorrow and not watch slideshows everytime u paly hl2/d3 get a radeon9600pro/9800pro/9800xt. nvidia has some badass cheating drivers that still cant beat ati's. if money is an issue get a athlon xp 1700+ it can overclocked like theres no issues.

Not meaning to hijack, but is this really true that Athlon XP's are easy to OC?

I bought mine um... a long time ago, lol, and it's running great, but back then I'd heard that OC'ing an AMD chip was bad news, and that the heat problem is bad enough already, yada yada...

I've got an XP1700+ myself, and one of those Volcano ("whisper quiet" my left nut!) heat sinks, so if anyone's actually done a significant OC and done it successfully, I'd like to hear about it... I'm running one of the MSI motherboards that lets you change CPU freq. in increments of 1 MHz.

2.4c can OC to 3.0ghz or more with special cooling.

for AMDs the 2500+ is a fav and cant OC to around 3200+ with special cooling also.

Your PC Specification looks ok, I would recommend that you get to 60Gb HDD rather than having one big one.

Yes, the 1700+ is possibly the best ocing chip there is (the barton 2500+ is excellent too). U should be able to go over 2ghz easily with a volcano.I dont think u could go higher than around 2300mhz. It all depends on the temps (dont worry unless its going over 70 too much)
