I'm thinking about adding this one to my setup.....

Anyone has experience with this synth related to trance music ? I know Tiesto is a big fan of this one, but It would be nice to hear what other producers say....

The only hardware synths I want are a Nord Lead 2, a JP8080, Novastation II and a Virus C!

I sometimes wonder if some people on this board have heard about other synths than the usual ones you mention. Maybe Novation and Access should put up a logo or sticker on their synths saying: "Trance Success!" or somthing like: "Good electronic tunes guaranteed".

Well, you get my point.

It doesn't seem like many on this board has any experience with the synth.

I work @ guitar center, I mess with the triton all the time. It can be used for trance. The Tritons are sample based synths. You can't tweak osc or envelopes, to get your own sound. Do you get what i am saying, if you buy the triton most likely all the sounds are already been used over and over. With keyboards like a Virus, Novation,Nord, you can always take a patch and make a original sound.

Hope you now understand why people like these synths.

I borrowed the Trinity (Tritons little sister, but quite similar) for about a week from a mate, and while it's good for big pads and real instruments, I wouldn't recommend it as a starter synth for trance. The synths mentioned are popular for a reason. The possibilities for trance sound on a va synth is literally limitless. If you already have a good va than a sample based synth is good for the sounds that a va can't create, and if that's the case I reckon the Triton is an excellent choice.

You didn't get my point xfer. My favourites are The Virus, SuperNova II and Q. But think about this: Trance isn't all about new sounds, created on a VA. Of course, many try to make their own sound with the VA's somthing that is really good! But you gotta have some classic instruments available as well. I'm sure you can come up with plenty of your own favourites that uses these classical instruments. Would you say that the piano is overused? What about the fluite? Overused?? These sounds can be somewhat made with the Virus, but it doesn't come even close to the programs on the Xv-5080 for example. I don't think the sounds in these sound modules (Xv-5080, Triton) is overused at all. From what I've heard (I haven't got a chance to test the Triton yet.) the Triton handles these classical sounds perfectly. And if I wanna use them, why not have premium quality? (I do have too many samplecds, and I'm tired of browsing....)

All you said was would a triton be good for trance lol. now you want realistic pianos and flutes. haha you could get great realistic sound from a sample cd. Im just confused on why you would want to spend $2000-$3000 for piano and flute sounds you could get from a $200 sample cd or a cheap sound module.
