I have a pair of Yorkville studio monitors. They are self powered @ 80 wats each.. these things POUND! They have dip switches on the back to adjust what sound they produce for different ways they are placed (close to a wall, away, in a carpeted room etc..) .. These suckers are hard to blow, there is a clip light I think all yorkvilles have the unlimited warranty and replaced/fixed no questions asked ..

Also, they take XLR or 1/4 inch balanced imputs..

Check them out. they are the YSPM1's .. i paid $275 each + tax.. well worth it..

Jay

HOW MUCH MONEY did you want to spend? What would be the use for the package, ie. outdoor/indoor how many people or is it for a bedroom set up. I have some systems that are already put together, or I can put a package together for you, just need to know your budget and purpose. I have from cheappies to top of the line turbosound, HK audio, and E & M products, with rating from bedroom DJ to 100K capacity stadiums. Daniel...

If you want some good, lowcost studio monitors, go with Behringer Truths. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...l/base_id/43298
I have a pair and they are not bad. Event 20/20 monitors are also good but a bit high heavy, so you'll probably need a subwoofer.

If you want the absolute best, get Mackie HR824 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...l/base_id/41576
These are the absolute best studio monitors you can buy (unless you wanna get into stuff that's like several grand a pair). I think these run roughly 1200 a pair.

Both are actively powered, meaning that amps are built in, so you don't need an external one. Just plug them in to your mixer and you're ready to go.

Edit: I think I'm misunderstanding what you're asking for. You're hosting a room at a party and are setting up a sound system there?

In this case, you need PA speakers and an amplifier.

You could opt for this set up:
2 Behringer 1220 PA speakers
http://www.sixstardj.com/beheurb11.html

Cheap Pyramid amp (rated at 2/400 watts)
http://www.sixstardj.com/pyramidpa800x.html

All in all, this will run you $500 or so, and you'll end up with a fairly decent sound system (you'll probably wanna get a nicer amp later, though...the pyramid is only rated at 125 rms and the speakers are 200...I think it should work, though, and you won't have the risk of blowing out the speakers.)

Well judging by this link, you are looking for Booth/Studio Monitor Speakers correct? That link is for Passive, non amplified that is, speakers. and I wasn't thrilled with the numbers at all. Here is what I think will be your best bet for your price range, if you are looking for DJ Booth/Studio Monitors:

M-Audio BX8 Amplified Studio Monitor Speakers(Pair) with 8" drivers:

The Studiophile line proves that world-class reference monitors don’t have to cost a fortune. Integral bi-amplification and crossover networks distribute the optimal frequencies to the high and low drivers for superior performance over component systems. Benefits include flatter frequency response, reduced distortion and maximized power handling. The optional SP-8S subwoofer extends accurate low-frequency reproduction to deliver bass you feel as well as hear. The bottom line: The Studiophiles deliver exceptional quality at a fraction of the cost of other monitors their size.

Studiophile Standard Features:
Active design with integral crossover and amplification
Silk high-frequency drivers incorporate ferrofluid cooling and internal damping technologies to minimize resonance
Low-frequency drivers feature mineral-filled polypropylene cones with high-temperature tolerant voice coils and damped rubber surrounds
Electronic time alignment of drivers delivers controlled dispersion for superior three-dimensional imaging
All drivers are magnetically shielded for desktop music production
Tooled rear Sub-Frequency Ports reduce low-frequency turbulence and optimize driver excursion for amazing bass in a small footprint

Acoustic Space Control adapts monitors to your needs Your monitors should be able to adapt to any changes in placement or work environment. That’s just what Acoustic Space Control does in the BX8s and BX5s. Since a monitor’s bass response can change depending upon proximity to walls, this control section allows you to optimize performance—no matter whether you need to put your Studiophiles on stands, on a bookshelf or in the corners. You can also adjust the high-frequency response to compensate for reflective surfaces like glass. The presence control gives you an automatic mid-range boost for added flexibility. There’s even a variable low-frequency roll-off to optimize response at crossover points when adding a subwoofer like the Studiophile SP-8S.

BX8 Specs:
Type: Two-way near-field studio reference monitors
Low-frequency drivers: 8-inch magnetically shielded mineral-filled polypropylene cones, high-temperature tolerant voice coils and damped rubber surrounds
High-frequency drivers: 1-inch swivel-mounted natural silk domes incorporating magnetic shielding, ferrofluid and internal damping technologies
LF Amplifier Power: 65W (EIA RS-490 dynamic power)
HF Amplifier Power: 65W (EIA RS-490 dynamic power)
Crossovers: 4th-order Linkwitz Riley for smooth frequency response
Crossover Frequency: 1.25kHz
Low-frequency rolloff: 6th-order filter optimizes maximum driver excursion
Input Connectors: XLR balanced, TRS balanced/ unbalanced
Input Sensitivity: 85 mV pink noise input produces 90dBA output SPL at one meter with volume control at maximum
Input Impedance: 20k ohms balanced, 10K ohms unbalanced
Protection: RF interference, output current limiting, over temperature, transient on/off, subsonic filter, external main fuse
S/N Ratio: > 100dB below full output, “A” weighted
Frequency Response: 37Hz - 20kHz
Power indicator: Power on/off indicator on front panel
Power Requirements: 115V/~60Hz or 230V/~50Hz (selectable); power via detachable 3-conductor line cord
Dimension: 14.97 in. (h) x 9.85 in. (w) x 11.82 in. (d)
Weight: 20.32 lbs./unit (without packing)
Shipping won't be a problem. My shop uses UPS Standard Ground which takes from here on the West Coast about 5bus days to get to you on the East Coast. PM or email me for price, you won't be dissapointed with them. or if you are looking for an actual PA system, given that you said 3000 sq ft room, you'll need to budget at least $1500.00-2000.00 for a decent sounding speaker system. Let me know. [email protected] or pm me.... Take Care...Daniel.

Are you looking for STUDIO MONITORS to help YOU, the DJ, mix and hear what you are mixing, or are you looking for PUBLIC ADDRESS speakers, to pound for a huge room? And what are you gonna hook em to?
