Smiley DJ Sasha - Revival ---REVIEW

all I have to say is holy fucking unbelievable. This was one of the best if not the best party I've ever been too. Started off the night mixing up venues, yes silly me. For some unknown reason I thought it was Rivoli, not Revival. Yes all these venues that start with R mixing me up. Anyway noticed that there was no line and got suspicious. Went to an internet cafe to find out the venue and realized that it was at Revival. Stupid, stupid me. So I locked up the old bike hopped in a cab and hurried up there as fast as I could. Got in line around 8:30 with my friends and we waited until about 10:20 to get in.

Well worth the wait. The first DJ (I forgot his name....looking to other TA's to help me out here) absolutely rocked. His set was so energetic, the crowd was so amazingly cool and the venue was absolutely perfect. Not to mention the free drinks provided by goldclub all night. And what a sweet deal, go to the washroom, get more drink tickets. What else could you ask for. Everybody in there was having a great time and the vibe in the room was unlike anything I've ever seen before. Shout out to all the TA's there last night making me feel right at home; Time 2 Burn, Tat Girl, Blue Neon, Drgoodvibe, Stero Princess, Gamma, and all the others that I have forgotten. You guys are great.

Sasha came on around 12:20 and that was the best, and I mean BEST intro for a set that I've ever seen in my life. He got the crowd so worked up. His mixing was phenominal, and with every song, he changed the vibe. From, deep house, to progressive, to almost drum and bass, he got the crowd to boogie. I left around 2:30 after he played the classic xpander. What a note to leave on. I am so glad I went. On a side note though, I did have my bike stolen which put a damper on my night...but oh well

Shitty about the bike dude.
I heard Steve Porter stole the show and Sasha was meh.
Sorry I'm not a fan of him, but I want to see what people on here thought.....

Today: Woke up at 10:20. Head Pounding.... Missed a job interview.

Conclusion: Free booze rules!

I'm thinking about taking up smoking B+H cigs just to thank em for the wicked party last night!!

Got there at 8:15 suprised to see a line up of about 100 ppl already, but glad we decided to go there that early just to be sure. Got the party started by guzzling Crest and Rev in line and the hour and a half wait went in no time. By the time we get in we were pretty buzzed. And low and behold you walk in and BAM "here's more free booze" . It was the perfect set up for the drunks in the house. Hit the washroom come back get more tickets. All in all lets just say that the crowd last night was ready to party!

The club was perfect too. Basically one big dance floor with seats on the side. Great space for dancing and hanging out. It did get a bit crowded in there but of course that is too be expected. It wasn't unbearable as there was alwasy room to boogie.

From what I remember Sasha played a wicked set. Lots of energy and the crowd was loving it. Woke up from a little booze induced snooze to Nalin and Kane - Beachball (Gabriel and Dresden mix) then P. Diddy - Lets get ILL (which I've finally come to the conclusion that its one helluva club track).

Great party crew last night too. Shouts to Gamma, StereoPrincess, Tatgirl, Blue Neon and Sis, ArticBoy, RyanM, Tw1tch, Special K, Failsafe, and everyone else that made my party hype (including John Labbat ).

*waits nervously for the pictures of me passed out at the club*

I HAD A GREAT TIME LAST NIGHT!!!

I looooooooved Steve Porters set last night and I thought he EASILY played the best set of the night. Id love to hear a primetime set from him. He played some seriously sick chunky thumping house music! I was loving every minute of his set.

Sasha...I dunno I liked his set but I just didnt think it was that special. I guess it was good but nothing to write home about. I was kinda waiting for him to turn it up a notch from the moment he stepped up to the decks. Also, I dunno I kinda thought his set was a little too anthemy but I mean whatever I was completely gone so I still had a blast singing and bouncing along to some of the older tunes that he dropped.

Also I dont know if its me and my likes and lislikes changing, or if it is in fact Sasha that has changed but I dunno I cant really get into his stuff anymore. I used to LOVE SASHA but over the course of the last year or so ive kinda become a little disenchanted with him, I still think hes a great DJ but there are ALOT of other DJS that if I had the choice to see, id choose seeing over him. MEH

*shrugs shoulders*

My tunes of the night

Steve Porter - Definite Form (i love the doo doo doo doo doo'ing in this tune)

Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence (Hellpass mix) OMFG I LOVE THIS TUNE! A very tasteful remix of my fav Depeche Mode tune of all time.

All in all I had a REALLY REALLY FUN NIGHT!!! I thought Revival was a REALLY NICE venue. The soundsystem wasnt as crappy as I thought it would be. It didnt get anywhere near as packed as I thought it would last night. Steve Porter killed it. Sasha was alright. Not amazing but he didnt suck as much as he did in October. The crowd seemed pretty cool and into the tunes.

The only thing that sucked was the fact that the party ended @ 3:00am!!! WTF was up with that, Sasha only got to play for two and a half hours.

But I guess I cant really complain to much when I got in for free and was fed free drinks *and other stuff lol* all night long.

Good times for shizzle...

Cant wait for the next installment of this series...!

I feel the same way K.

I think Sasha is pretty much washed up (I know you didn't say that) but that is how I feel. This guy use to rock a party don't get me wrong but after that ambient CD "Air Drawn Dagger" and his past few live sets especially at the Kool Haus his last visit, I have come to the conlcusion that he just doesn't have it anymore. Other DJ's would blow him out of the water if he wasn't "Sasha".
I know I will get flammed for sure but in all honesty it is the truth.

Too back it up, look at what is counter-part is doing. Digweed is still doing his part to progress the scene in a positive way. Movies, his own Kiss 100 show and still touring. Digweed stayed out of the drugs and shit and there fore I can still hold him to his high ranking of a DJ God.

$.02

all i have to say is... PURE CLASS.. the people were there to party and have fun, not to stand around and stare, they were there with smiles and ready to start hoppin!! Stood in line for an hour and so, but in line you'r talking to poeple, making friends, I cannot stress as to how cool the crowd and the vibe was. It was my first time meeting TA's (see stereoprincess i'm posting!!! =]) And all are definatly cool (looking forward to seeing you all again) Steve Porter rocked i'm not too into house but man he blew me away! Like some of the other TA's have mentioned before i was waiting for Sasha to just turn it up a notch.. c'mon scratch that itch!! He came close but no cigar.. He's not totally washed up though I saw him @ Space in Ibiza and he ROCKED!! I was just happy that he showed up last night!!

OK free entrance?? FREE BOOZE??????? Very nice club, never been, but very cool, sound system was cool, there were points where I could feel the bass vibrate my entire body (my ears are still ringin) Anyways definatly a night to remember,

Sorry ryan about your bike eh thats not a happy ending to such a great night.

Hey everyone. I'm awake but my brain is frozen. Those Revs and all that booze will kill your brain!

I personally had an amazing night. I was totally too drunk though. I never expected to get free booze and even some food inside! Seriously considering starting up smoking because of this party. j/k!

I thought that both the DJs did an excellent job. I consider this set to be right up there with Sasha's set at the Delta Heavy tour, which was amazing. The guy spun some amazing tracks and I couldn't stop dancing. I don't see how you guys can say that Sasha has lost it. I am not even a huge Sasha follower and I wasn't expecting such a good set from him.

I agree that the venue was amazing, since I was kind of aprehensive when we were first standing in line.

By the way, Ray never made it to school in the morning. Az sorry to hear about your interview, are you able to reschedule? Marcin, you and your sister were a blast! Kevin, hope you had a safe trip today. Nat, another great party, I'm starting to miss you when you are not at parties. Failsafe, good thing you were able to make it for this. ryanm and dr.goodvibe, nice to meet you guys and looking forward to seeing you in the future. And dr. goodvibe, good, keep posting!

Az, I was surprised to see you still there at 2:30 when you had a job interview at 10....but then again it was a wicked wicked party and even though I lost my $800 bike, it really doesn't bother me as much as I think it should
