Rane Empath.. case closed

The A&H Xone-62 is for clubs (1000-5000 people large)

"mostly" for home use? The heath is well built and solid "club" mixer, the rane is a "touring", both have crystal clear sound quality, and are great. For home, I'd just say the empath. It's got everything you need and comes with some solid frills. Not to mention its solid for absolutely every genre, so its a good choice if you want to learn to implement scratching techniques. The 62 just owns for what it does. I'd say its primarily a techno/house/trance (electronic) mixer that you may find in clubs and events. You can learn on both, but I'd say you're better off with the empath for home use. It's got everything you need and costs less. You don't need a club mxier for your house, hands down, unless you're a professional club dj who djs in clubs on a regular basis and you're style is set. Besides, unless you're sound system is da bomb you won't enjoy all its features.

People talk in too many words, simple answer, Empath is for home use and learning, Xone62 is a club mixer...

thanks for all the info. i'm heading down to seattle today to pick up a mixer and all your information was helpful. i'm going try out a few but i believe i'm going with the rane. it is cheaper and it is strictly for home use, plus... i can buy more records with the money i save on the a&h. thanks a bunch

Vlad already said it, so I'm just going to add to his statement, you spent too much money for a mixer you are not able to appreciate the quality of sound from. A&H mixers require a BIG boom boom sound, the kind large capacity clubs have, cause in order to appreciate how really great this mixer sounds and performs, you need to have great sounding system. You can't possibly match the big sound of a club at home, unless you live in like a Buckingham Palace, lol! A&H are great mixers, thus many huge events like trance sensation and trance energy. For a bedroom DJ, Rane empath is a great mixer and if needed it will perform well in a small to medium sized clubs.

2 itswhiteonrice, in Seattle if they try to charge you more than $835.00 for Empath, contact me immediately, I can do even better than that plus shipping, Our shop is out in California, so shipping won't be that long. Cheers.

i'd agree. the empath is a great mixer, amazing, just as nice as my beloved a&h xone32.

the empath will be more flexible, honestly i'd probably buy it over the 32 now.. but it wasnt out when I bought my 32. if your gonna scratch, forget the xone32, it just doesnt hang for scratching. every scratch DJ has not liked my 32, but most electronica mixing DJ have walked away wanting to walk away WITH the mixer.

I think they did something to "smooth" the fader curve or dampended the response on fast movement which actually works out nice for mixing, but dulls the response for fader-quivering ninja-style scratching on the fader.. and I think that's exactly when they added the transmute buttons, which have no delay. If one were to get good enough with them, you could probably use them in place to bumpin the fader. but they just dont feel right compared to scratching on the fader.

I'd miss the VCF's though... they are really handy for some serious frequency control, you can do some wild tricks with them! problem is no other boxes have them, so they are of no use live. minus there, but hey, they are still quite handy at times.

regardless, this is a hard call as these are both at the pinnacle of 10" DJ mixers. Good stuff either way. Your intended application is your answer

Dude, .. First of all, it is much easier to achieve great sound in a smaller room than a big club.. think acoustics.. Also, it is much easier to get a SUPER sound system @ home than a club... try lurking www.avsforum.com for a bit..
Clubs do have a MUCH HIGHER budget, therefore plenty of AMPS and LOUD speakers
An example of a system @ home that would kill any club system is:
Lexicon MC12B processor (try logic 7 mode for enhancements to stereo mode)
Parasound Amp, ATI Amp, B&K, Lexicon, Sherbourn, etc.. (any quality amp with 200+ Watts per channel x 5 or more channels)
Rocket 750 speakers (www.av123.com) or NHT Evolution series, or any decent not too expensive music speakers (some speakers are HT inclined).
EarthQuake SuperNova Cube 15 inch Sub, high end SVS Sub, Bob Carber or Def. Tech Sub. (or a few subs around the room for super BOOOM.
A&H Xone 62 and volla, u have relatively inexpensive system that will KILL any system of ANY club in the world.
I do agree that 95 percent of people here dont have that and wont be able to afford that any time soon..
