My CD decks broke on me, so I went out and bought Denon's S5000 today. I've only fooled around with it for a few minutes, am noticed that it's pitch change readout is only .1%, as opposed to my Pioneer's .05%. The Denon has a 4% pitch selection...is it possible that even in that mode it only changes .1% at a time?

I'm studying in electronics...
and there's 2 world in that domain...
analogic & numeric.
Let me explain them the most simple way...
Analogic is similar to wave forms...
Numeric is more in to scared shapes...
I think ... I think that TT (technics let's say) have an analogic pitch...now with cd players... I don't know if cause of the pitch accuracy you're talking about determines how precise the "scared shape" of the pitch range is.
basicly... analogic is better as you can set ip up anywhere in the pitch range from -8% to +8%... like you can have it set at +3.73067673658053... % unlike +3.7%

right, that I understand. but I'm asking if that is as precise as that machine gets. I had cheaper Pioneer CD decks that had a .05% accuracy. The Pioneer CDJ has a .02 pitch accuracy, I assumed that the Denon's would be similar. .1% pitch change is not very precise at all, especially for a machine like the S5000. So, if anyone knows the specs for this machine, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

In terms of pitch resolution, Denon has always lagged behind the Pioneers. That's the main reason I bought the CMX3000 over the Denon 2600.

@ 4% the denon has .05 pitch accuracy..... I think the upgrade coming up is going to have .02 accuracy... But I'm not sure about that....
all the other settings have .1%.... I've never had a problem using them. I usually use the 10 or 16 % setting.

yeah, i just figured out how to select the 4%. What do you mean by upgrade. An entire new CD player, or an actual upgrade for the S5000?

no the software upgrade.... Denon periodically will release software upgrades for the s5000... You download it, burn it to cd and then put it in the player and then you have an upgraded machine!!! One of the major benefits of the Denon over the pioneers.
