Where are they? Were any SF TA's there? (do I need to ask? ) How was it for you.
I guess I'll throw something in to start it off.
Spundae last Sunday was a great time for me, and Armin was great, but he didn't seem to sound like Armin. The only AVB track (original or remix) that I remember/recognize him playing was Yet Another Day. Did I miss any? I thought he was sounding more like Tiesto, with the tunes he played.
Other stops I made during the SF portion of my Cali club tour: DNA Lounge on Friday - great house music, and I love the computers in there.
Popsicle 5 on Saturday - that's the kind of indoor event that the NY TA's wanna have. The prices for food were a little steep though. Also, the schedule didn't seemed to be followed on the main stage, so I wasn't sure who was playing when. Too bad I had to leave early for my own chance to spin some tunes, so I missed most of the headliners.
Report on the LA portion will be up after this coming weekend. |
Hey! Armin in two words Absofcukinglutely Incredible
"you take the red pill, you take the blue pill, you take the red pill, you take the blue pill" lol!!! I've been noticing lately from buying records online at only-djs.com and from listening to lots of live sets, that Tiesto, AVB, Ferry Corsten, and Cor Fijneman do have tons of the same tracks on their playlists. Only-djs.com actually will tell you right after the title of the track, who's playlist it's on,(but only if it's a well known around the world DJ) and lots of times I've seen "Tiesto/Armin/Corsten/Fijneman playlist" just like this or "Tiesto/Armin/Corsten playlist" Just pay attention when Tiesto plays in SF on june 6th, I think, first 3 tracks will be same as what Armin played. neways, one negative comment though, I thought the sound wasn't quite there at all, when I came up to San Fran for Spundae 10th anniversarry bash in Feb for F Corsten's special 3hrs set and when I came up here for Release's PVD and J Bohman exclusive, the sound was so much louder and clearer and bass was so much more pounding, to the point where I almost lost my balance a few times while dancing. this time it just seemed like the sound was lacking power or the crossovers were bleeding or something just didn't sound good to me. Popsikle 5 was OK, it was great seeing Art of Trance and Thrillseekers, Steve Baltes, Agnelli and Nelson but as I've told Eric(Mystre), Michael(Mars), Jason(Dyloot) and Tom(Tom Slik) the sound proofing between stages might as well have been taken down 'cause it wasn't doing anything. The sounds were bleeding into each other, especially during breakdowns and build ups or up lifts. gots to hand it to Skills for subcontracting the Visual effects, who ever they subcontracted did an AWESOME job, I haven't seen such a spactacular laser and lights work at a massive rave in quite a few years. Food was a bit pricey, but hey what can you do, starve, lol!
Where did you play? I left early too, 'cause I had to hit up my friend's(Armann "the Brainchild") event "Orgy" and then onto Shadow Lounge with them.
I am leaving back to LA in a few, are you spinning somewhere in my hometown? Or if you want to go to my fav club RED @ Arena www.nexxez.com on Friday, we have guest DJs, Scott Bond and Dave Aude(CD Release Tour) and there is also Primal 5yrs young on Sat at Q Topia Center where Mars, Mystre, Dyloot, Tom Slik and others will be performing. hit me up on pm or email me directly [email protected]
Cheers, Daniel...
