i was recently listening to a mini disc i made about a year ago and i was more than impressed with it.
however recently i couldn't mix cement. i find it hard to concentrate past 15 minutes on the decks and my changeovers are flat and basically all the same. i put this fact solely down to the fact that every weekend for the past half a year i've been hammering it, taking copius amounts of ecstacy which i am now begining to sort out.
this is a warning to all you wannabe dj's, drug abuse fucks with your level of concentration and this for me is proof enuff to stop taking pills (so much) .

i find that not to be true.. ive caned pills for ages (since before i started djing) and its never affected my mixing, unless of course you are on them at the time, then it can go either way lol (usually better unless ive done more than 2 or 3)
cannabis however leaves u unable to mix for shit

Yeah, I gotta agree with tu about this.
I've done pills for almost 7 years now. And it all comes down to moderation. You can't go out every weekend and get completely mashed, you WILL burn out.
You take a few for parties occansioanlly. I'm doing tech and integration, so it must not of wasted that many brain cells.
As for concentration, I've always had a limited concentration. But doesn't everybody?

well duh..., if you started taking em before you started djing f'course you couldn't notice a difference. But maybe if you hadn't taken them at all, YOU would be the #1 DJ in the world, rather than one of those fairy f0ks

I don't take drugs anymore since about 4 months, but before that I found it easier to mix while I was on E, music feeling is so great when you popped just before mixing!
But now I stopped all those nasty things Just mixing, sometimes a little bit drunk

everything in moderation. i wonder how much producers listen to their work under the influence to bring out the kinda frequencies u instantly pick up on when ur feeli' it.
i remember that prodigy's second album - a lot of the tracks were made under different drugs like pills n amphetamines n coke to bring out the lil' enhancements the chemicals make to the brain.
kinda interesting, spinning tho, i'd think if dj's are taking anything at the time it'd be coke. shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarp.

listen i never put this thread up so people could start naming and shaming dj's so don't do it.
it's just my opinion that my levels of concentration have been severly affected by pills. it may not be the case for everybody but hey, i've got to blame this terrible dj'ing streak on something.
