The kids you're talking about afford it because they mum / dad / rich uncle gives them the money to pay for it all. Or maybe they're just drug dealers

There's no doubt it can be an expensive hobby, lots of people take a loan to get their first decks and mixer. Otherwise just save up, and save up some more. It's better for you and your finances if you can pay for the whole lot upfront.

I've made some money off of my art work, and errr well....it goes pretty quick these days.

With that amout of money, you can buy a mixer and a TT.

Its easy......manage ur money wisely then the dough u have left over will go towards your equipment.


By managing my money, was able to buy a $1300 setup within a 2 month period.

Like what other people said... however to keep this hobby up... it's not so difficult for me. I got a part time job and I saved up for months to buy a good setup. Seeing as I'm living with my parents and going to high school, all I really have to pay for is some clothing (however not all the time) and djing. In canadian funds I can spend around 100 dollars a week on vinyl if I need to. It's all about the part-time job. Usually however I never really have any money left over... but it's all good.

actually this kids are smarter starting up younger cuz they dont have to deal with the fact that it living costs more as you get older, living at home with parents is ideal situation to save up money for ur TT's, although u may wanna save for a car, but whatever is more important to you. Like i said in the "how old where you when u started to dj" thread, I didn't start till i was 20 yrs old, and being in college paying my own way (no support from parents but thats a different story) and i had rent to pay, utilities and bills to pay, i had to eat, and i was working full time AND going to school full time, but my paycheck barely paid for the essentials.. so i bought a set of used decks (actually my 2nd set of decks were used, my first ones were fucking shitty and I shouldn't have waisted the $$, but back then I didn't know TA existed or else someone could have pointed me in the right direction from the start).. so I mean I bought a pair of used mk2's for 600, the dj i bought them from was really nice and he threw in a mixer and coffin case too cuz he felt where i was coming from, he was actually resident at a few clubs and bars and thats how he paid his tuition, so he was nice, gave me some tips and knocked a few extra bux off the end price. So basically, i'm just trying to show u that not everyone on this board are spoiled little brats that get everything they want handed to them, some of us still have to earn what we've got so don't feel bad bro.
