Remix is when another artist takes an artists work and makes his or her on rendition of it. Sometimes they end up being better then the original.

Rework or Reconstruction is when a track is completely ripped apart and redone. Like taking an older track and remaking it.

However I have no idea what a Dub is, I have alot of tracks that are "Dub Mixes" or "Dub Remixes" they sound more techno-ish and housey.

Hope I was of some help.

dub = vocals have been taken out and/or some beats have been removed or changed. Remix = song has been remade. Rework = When someone takes a remixed song and adds something to it. Reconstruction = same as rework I thought. Correct me if I am wrong...

a remix is a version made by the same/different artist to give the track a different feel, while keeping all/some of the original's elements. rework is probably the same as this if im not mistaken.

dub is a version which is likely to not include vocals.

a reconstructions is taking a radio ripped tune and putting a start and finish to it. people often do this for a new tune when there isnt a full version availible for DL yet.

Ok let's start with this:

original mix - the first audio recording
(example: Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body

remix - modified or new audio recording of the original mix
(example: Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body (Sander Kleinenberg Remix)

dub mix - the dubbing over of or the removal of vocals to a mix.
(example: Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body (Sander Kleinenberrg Dub)

rework - it's a remix in it's most literal form. a rework is taking a mix of a track and then applying minimal changes to that mix. whether that be adding a big bassline, or add more effects. the imoprtant thing is the majority of the mix is unedited. (example: entire Paul van Dyk - Politics of Dancing CD)

re-edit - basically, moving around loops through cutting and pasting (example: PvD's edit of Kyau vs Albert - Velvet Morning (Mirco de Govia Mix) heard on Mayday 2003)

reconstruction - rebuilding of an unavailable track through improving the quality of a poor recording version of the same track.
(example: Paul van Dyk - Animacion (Azareal's Reconstruction Mix) was mostly taken from PvD's Rosenmontag 2002 set with patches made by Azareal)

A quick note: the term dub doesn't necessarily have to refer to vocals. It typically means a removal of high frequencies; these just tend to be the vocals in a vocal-based track. You can still encounter a dub mix of an instrumental track (many examples exist).

all but this were very nicely explained
mostly because..Animacion is quite available
i have it on CD, not ripped, not mixed; official release authorised by PvD.
that, and there's a PvD+Azareal Reconstruction of Underworld - Born Slippy,
which is also quite available. (amongst others)
i'm thinking it's mostly the same as a re-work, with a few 'added patches'. Azareal is also one of the artists who does Reconstructions rather than Remixes.
