How I almost died on Friday nite.....
Avoid Algonquin Park at all costs, unless you're going there to shoot moose (hunting: a sport which I've suddenly become in favor of). I have put a large bounty on the specific moose that nearly killed us, BTW.
Was driving to Om festival w/2 friends Fri nite. This year they gave us these directions thru this park, which turned out to be a longer & more dangerous route (damn those hippies!). We were driving thru moose terrain, & i said 5 words i regret saying: "I wanna see a moose!" This bastard of beast stepped right out into the road & looked right at us. I swerved & missed it by a couple of inches (Yes!) but the car was going too fast & started to fishtail & spin out, finally stopped when we hit the guardrail on the side of the road front-on & the air bags went off. My 2 friends were basically ok, but i suffered the damage- 1 broken arm & a bloody nose (with difficult breathing since then), and an autographed "Picotto" plate that is un-ebayable now. Still, this is better than the alternative had i not avoided that moose...... 1000 lbs of moose crashing thro the windshield wouldn't have been pretty. Found a hospital in Barry's Bay where they hooked me up w/x-rays & a splint. I was told not to go to the party like that, but i couldn't make my friends miss it, nor was i in any shape to drive myself back, so to Om we went. By the time we got there, settled, & made it down to the Black Light Activists stage, the dj was finishing up, which sucked, cuz he was throwing down some sick shit. Spent the rest of the day explaining what happened to my arm to SOOOOO many people, but everyone was so kind & caring- that's Om for ya. Spent most of my time popping Tylenol 3's. Sat nite, I had difficulty finding anyone i knew in the dark, made it back to my car, which was a hassle, so i just stayed there & slept til sunrise, missing lots of good tunes, i'm sure. Sun mornin took that percocet my friend gave me, which sent me in & out of sleep all day, but the djs were playing some good tunes to sleep by. Yay for that hammock! Special thanks to the Cool Hemp ice cream people who made sure i had a source of ice on my arm all weekend, unlike that other mean ice cream vendor who refused to keep my ice pack cold.
I need to get a cast today from the thumb to past the elbow on my right (good) arm. Typing (& everything else) will be a task, so bear w/me if i can't reply quickly to emails & instant messages. The phone will be better for now. This certainly frees up my schedule.....can u believe my boss STILL wont let me go to Impulz Outdoor this weekend??
give me a call sometime. -Nat
