kill switches . . .?

just bought a Numark DM3000x over a DM3001, and I'm wondering if I'll regret it . . . how useful are the kill switches? I'm guessing they come in handy when you want to cut a frequency quickly, but this is only a convenience feature, seeing as you can just crank that knob . . . right? Tell what you think, also you fellas with the kill switches, how much you use em?

I only use them for quick bassline kills when I'm mixing breaks. When it comes to actually beat-mixing, I use the EQ (all three) because of the greater control you get.

IMO going from full bass to no bass just sounds weird, using the EQ nob you can get better control and have smoother mixes. IMO remember

I agree. I barely touch my kill switches. I do hit them every now and then though, when it's appropriate..they're not useless. Just close to it.

yeah.
i normally use the kills when i'm mixing breaks or songs that are in the same or compatible keys and are short.
or house which permits quick mixing.
the 3 EQ nobs give you much more control over the sound of whats playing. much more useful in trance or progressive

I have em, but haven't used them. Just using the EQ knobs. I'm sure they have their place in the mix though.

i use mine quite a bit. they can be used to great effect to slap something quickly in or out of the mix.

so can the knob you say, but, not as quickly. and when you turn the bass knob all the way down, then try to punch it back in where it was, it's not always possible to get it EXACTLY where it was, EXACTLY on the beat. but it's easy with a kill switch. i rarely use my mid kill switches though, they take out too much of the meat of the track.

I'm just back from the shop with my VMX300... I Like those kill switches alot. It can create lovely effects when you're mixing in new tracks.
