what do you expect will happen to the trance scene in 2001?
in my opinion:
- progressive will be the way to go
- tiesto, paul van dyk will stay popular
- dj jean will loose popularity
- johan gielen, marco v and rank1 will grow more and more popular

i don't find his music innovating .. he's been around for a while and i'm only getting the 'more of the same' feeling listening to his music. i still think his music rox but i think most other big dj's are just better and'll get more popular at his cost.

Most of the big name guys will be big still:
Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, PvD, Judge Jules, Oakenfold, Carl Cox.

However, arguably the two biggest producers/remixes/djs this year were PvD, Ferry Corsten. Whether they'll have as big a year again, I doubt. i can't see PvD bringing out another album (which he gained much of his popularity from this year).

Carl Cox is supposed to be bringing out a new album & that could shoot his popularity up again.

ATB will be big for the first couple of months after his recent album release & I'm sure we'll see a huge amount of "the summer" and "fields of love" remixes. But ultimately he'll be quieter, I'd think.

Some of the lesser known guys probably will get a little more airplay / ratings.

Darude will also lose popularity, I'm hoping not to have to hear Sandstorm for the rest of 2001 in every club.

Music style wise, I think we'll move away from the heavier side to more trancey / chilled sounds. I can see trance getting bigger (Yay!!!).

It's going to be another intersting year...

I'd hope a bit of both.
As much as progressive stuff will be great, the only way to hear more and more trance is for their also to be clubbier stuff.

I think you need both - many people need to be initially exposed to clubbier stuff, before moving onto the progressive side of things.
