Massive Attack - Prayer For England

This is a very good track. I'm not really a fan, but damn. What a message too, shit.

Saw MA in Brixton in April. Absolutely amazing show - they had a HUGE LCD screen. It was during the us/irag conflict so the screen was firing out numbing amounts of data on weapons tech, defence budgets and global stats. Fkin' amazing.

Very, very interesting. First of all, Sinead O'Connor sings it. I think it could be best described as an anti-IRA song, seeing as it serves as a rememberance for those lost in England. I'm not going to take sides in the whole Ireland-England affair.

In the name of
And by the power of
The Holy Spirit
May we invoke your
Intercession for
The children of England
Some of whom have seen
Murder so obscene
Some of whom have been taken

Let not another child be slain
Let not another search be made in vain

Jah forgive us
For forgetting
Jah help us
We need more loving
See the teachers
Are representing you
So badly
That not many can see you

Let not another child be slain
Let not another search be made in vain

Jah calls the ones whose
Beliefs kill children to
Feel the love of you and be healed
And may we all cry too
For representing you
So badly so badly

Jah forgive us
For forgetting
Oh Jah help us
To be forgiving
The teachers are representing you
So badly that not many can see you

Let not another child be slain
Let not another search be made in vain

I thought that the track was about the recent Child murders of Sarah Payne & the 'Holly & Jessica' Case.
'Let not another child be slain
Let not another search be made in vain '

the part that says 'Let not another search be made in vain ' is what made me think this may be the reason to the song.
Although your theory could also be right. Either way its a very good and poignant track. As is the whole '100th Window' album it is taken from

Definitely. Interestingly Sinead O'Connor wasn't at the gig - we had Dot Alison instead. Not sure why (apart from Dot Alison was supporting) coz all Shara Nelson and the old Rasta dude that does the vocals for a lot of Mezzanine was there...

Well its not like there is an ireland-england thing.

As the IRA are a terrorist group within ireland which have very little support.
